Forensicus 883 Posted February 2, 2014 Finally found some colours for my Firespray repaint attempt, so here is the result. Not expecting to win prizes, but I do like the result myself. Can't wait for taking it for a twerk... I mean a spin tomorrow for the Monday Game night here in Copenhagen I've also tried experimenting with some engine glow (and making an unofficiel Imperial Ace TIE-Advanced) At least it kept me off the streets and away from any mischiefs *lol* I hope you like it -Niko- 9 executor, Winner, LeoHowler and 6 others reacted to this

LordCole 573 Posted February 2, 2014 Very classy...I would like to see some close up shots of your Tie Advanced, I like that red in the light you are using. 1 Forensicus reacted to this
Hoosteen 339 Posted February 3, 2014 One of the best Bounty Hunter repaints I've seen.Love how the dark grey paint really looks like it's chipping away. 1 Forensicus reacted to this
Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 Thx for the kind/positive feedback so far. I will gladly post more pics when I get back home and I'll include the paint names and a bit on my procedure, so please stay tuned. Hopefully the BH will be victorious in tomorrow's games and in the upcoming tourney(s) ;-)
Farseerixirvost 74 Posted February 3, 2014 Well done. can you comment on process? It looks like you just painted over the parts that are now green. But was it a complete repaint? Regardless, looks great and an inspiration for my (soon to be here) 2nd Firespray. 1 Forensicus reacted to this
LeoHowler 475 Posted February 3, 2014 Totally going to do a Firespray in this colour scheme. Very nice, you've helped inspire me. ^^ 1 Forensicus reacted to this
Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 how do you do it without messing up? Well an unhelpful description would be: By being very careful ;-) But more helpful: I used some water based paints and diluted them with a bit of water before applying first the darker green directly on the existing surface (I didn't use any stripping solvent or primer) with a small brush. After this had dried up I then used a brighter green (diluted a bit more than the base coat) and applied this along all the edges on the separate "tiles" and the outer edge with a VERY fine brush (Hobby Precise Detail) with just a small amount of paint. In a couple of spots I accidently applied a bit too much paint but it was easily removed by swiftly swiping away the paint with my thumb. The edges on the grey areas where done the same way by using a mix of white paint with a small drop of black paint to "grey it" a bit. Paints used: The dark green: Citadel Warpstone Glow The lighter green: Citadel Moot Green The white: Citadel Ceramite White The black: Citadel Abaddon Black -Niko-
Filthy Pierre 110 Posted February 3, 2014 What paints did you use for the engine glow? That effect is fantastic. Can use it on a few models.
Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 What paints did you use for the engine glow? That effect is fantastic. Can use it on a few models. The red/orange/yellow/white is made by using diluted Citadel paints: First a layer of Evil Sunz Scarlet. Let it dry Then some Troll Slayer Orange, being careful to leave a brim of the red exposed. Let it dry Followed by a small circle of Flash Gitz Yellow mixed with a small drop of the orange. Let it dry Then I applied a thin layer of Bloodletter Glaze. Let it...yup dry And finally a small dot of Ceramite White. Done For the blue engine: Basically same procedure as outlined above but using the following paint (not using the glaze): Kantor Blue Altdorf Guard Blue Hoeth Blue Ceramite White I got some tips from a guy at the LGS but there a also good instructional vids on YouTube Enjoy -Niko-

oneway 1,878 Posted February 3, 2014 Looks really nice, the new pictures are welcome so we can see the whole thing... I'm in the process of a Kath scarlet repaint, but will eventually do one similar to this... when I get that 3rd Firespray.. lol.. thanks for sharing your work. 1 Forensicus reacted to this
Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 A bit off topic (I'm granting myself permission since I started the thread ): Tonight my newly painted Bounty Hunter was victorious in 2 battles, only losing a couple of shields in each game. Not sure that it was due to the paint job but I would like to think so -Niko- 1 oneway reacted to this

Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 Awesome.. gonna have to speed up my timetable then.. hahaha... more repaints to do... With the current success and positive comments I am seriously considering doing a Kath Scarlet repaint or perhaps a Jango version just to totally destroy my long lasting "I really like the game and the models in part because they are prepainted and one thus doesn't need to paint them" 1 oneway reacted to this

Forensicus 883 Posted February 3, 2014 I absolutely LOVE that Tie Advanced! TY, I have only finished the sidepanel (so a bit of a cheat phot I know ) but will hopefully finish it tomorrow. Then I will make my 3rd Lambda into a Crimson red Imp Ace version and possibly at least 1 of my TIE-Bombers too . Sp much for "not needing to paint them" 1 oneway reacted to this

Sp much for "not needing to paint them" I think I need a couple more Tie Advanceds now! I'm not sure about painting Lambdas though - they just look so great in white... I dunno, I'll have to see when you've done yours! Is non-white canon?

Forensicus 883 Posted February 12, 2014 This might have been a subconscious decision with Valentine's Day coming up, but it has been a thing I've been toying with for a while. So here I present for the first time: The Imperial Aces Shuttle!!! It's still very much a work in progress, needs many details, weathering and haven't decided on Engine Glow colours..... 1 oneway reacted to this
