Pawn on Scheherazade + Deep Red question

Recommended Posts

So my friend is playing this really interesting Exile deck.

The idea is that he has a Pawn in the Heap, a Pawn in play ( on a last piece of Ice), a Scheherazade and a Deep Red Installed.

So he makes a run somewhere ( an unprotected server most likely, which I trashed the ICE of, in order to get rid of some of his Caisa programs), the run is successful so what happens is:

1) Pawn "moves" from the last piece of ICE, bringing the Pawn from the heap out
2) That triggers Exile's ability and he draws a card
3) He installs ( on instant speed because of Exile's ability )  Pawn on Scheherazade and gains 1 credit
4) Because of Deep red he moves/installs Pawn on an ICE with instant speed again ( ofc somewhere on a 1 piece of ICE for example, where it will be last)

So he runs somewhere else again and repeats ....

It's one of the most original deck idea's I've seen and it's really ******* good, because -> credit + card on a successful run , it's like having Professional Contacts on Instant speed. Also you can do it more than 1 time per turn, unlike John Massanori + Desperado for example

I just want to ask if all his actions are "legal " rules wise, because I know you can't host other  Caisas on a Djinn/Scheherazade and also the instant speed install on Scheherazade with instant move on ICE ( because of deep red).

Sorry, just for clarity's sake, he's not installing at instant because of Exile - he's doing that because of Pawn. Only the Draw is down to Exile.

But yes, it's completely legal. Pawn is the only Caissa not restricted in movement relative to where it is now, so it can move off Djinn or Scheherazade, and Deep Red allows you to immediately re-host.

If you can get your Pawns stacked, you can actually get more bang for your buck. If you have three Pawns on innermost ICE, consider:

All three Pawns trigger at once. The active player then chooses order of resulution, and resolves them one at a time.

The first Pawn trashes itself, but has no valid target for install (unless you have other Caissa in hand/heap for install).

The second Pawn trashes itself, re-installing the first Pawn, gaining you a card and a credit from Scheherazade, and moving back to the ICE.

The third Pawn self-trashes and reinstalls the second Pawn, gaining you a card and a credit from Scheherazade, and moving back to the ICE.

Rinse repeat for 2 creds and 2 cards every successful run (provided there's a single ICE server to host your Pawns on).

Additional note, Pawns CAN be installed on the same ICE, as they don't have the restriction of not being able to install if a Caissa is already there.

Potentially very powerful if you can set it up.

Yeah, but
1) EDIT : lol ****
and 2) Most people will trash Ice with Caisa on it, or Elizabeth McGuire  =)

Pretty impossible to pull off in a game in my opinion

Probably is, but if they're trashing ICE, they're both using clicks they'd probably rather spend on other things, and thinning their defenses/being forced to pay to rex again. So even if you can't get the combo, you're forcing the Corp into making plays they'd rather not have to make. Win-win! :D
