JaceM - congrats on ur sucess.

im contemplating playing a version of ur squad that uses omicron.

here it is...

Kath Scarlet + Expert Handling + Rebel Captive (43)

Omicron Group Pilot + FCS + Gunner + Engine Upgrade (32)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

iv had some success with these ship types together already but ive been using mostly Bounty Hunter with recon specialist and iv started to look for viable alternatives... which led me to this thread :)

imo the stress giving from Kath would complement the shuttle well, which has a horrible movement dial and vulnerable to outflanking by agile ships - with stress tokens on them tho they will be hampered in any persuit :)

feedback and suggestions much appreciated.

I'm not sure Kath works great with this list. I love that shuttle load out, but with it, Kath is a less desirable target. That means you are getting less mileage from Rebel Captive. You also had to cut Ion Cannon. Without ionizing a stressed target, the stress is much less impactful. If you wanted a Firespray with this list, I'd run with Krassis (HLC) or Bounty Hunter (RS, HLC) personally. Either way, good luck out there!

imo Kath will still be the primary target early - or should be. she is worth the most points and is the best ship in this squad late in the game. if they concentrate on the shuttle early Kath can operate freely. its worth testing out imo.

Actually, in this list, I've found that the TIEs are a the lynch pin of the formation. Without them to harass the enemy, you tend to end up in a bad position quickly.

I've gone 7-0 with this Kath Scarlet list, and wanted to share it and some of the strategy it can employ that I've enjoyed.

Kath Scarlet (46pts)

- Expert Handling

- Ion Cannon

- Rebel Captive

2x Saber Squadron Pilot (27pts)

- Push the Limit

- Stealth

I typically play 5 to 7 ship imperial lists so this squad was a big departure for me. It developed from wanting to explore the ability to disrupt maneuverability and squad cohesion from the combo of Stress and Ion (for those unaware, ion is a 1 forward WHITE maneuver, so stress isn't removed and therefore no action). I was pretty set on Kath's configuration, but wanted to make sure she was going to be targeted (Rebel Captive), so instead of my usual tie swarm, I went with the Sabers (I also almost did Soontir Fel and Dark Curse, but was worried about firepower). The Sabers almost always flank, and Kath can really slow roll to allow them to completely take a surprising route and make it around in time. She does this by doing repeating forward 1 barrel roll back. This is almost an endless shuttle stall allowing Sabers plenty of time to be where I want them to be. When engagement happens, I typically stack Evade & Focus with Sabers which with their 4+ Agility makes them undesirable targets if they changed directions to even target them (or have turrets). Kath typically can disrupt or completely take out their main ship since it typically has the highest PS and therefore receives stress firing at Kath. She then Ion Cannons them (with possibly another stress) and they are not K-Turning or hard turning w/o stress for awhile and at least temporarily out of fight a few rounds. And with engagement happening typically near my side of board then she can force off a dangerous pilot (aka Wedge). While that pilot is out for a bit, my squad can typically pick apart what is left. Another interesting thing that has happened is that some players completely try to ignore Kath from aversion to the stress caused, while they should focus fire. Some players will play correctly, but I have been surprised by how much it messes with several player's psyche.

She then Ion Cannons them (with possibly another stress)

ion cannon cancels all dice results so when you attack and hit with ion even if u rolled a critical it gets cancelled right?

Kath Scarlet: When attacking, the defender receives 1 stress token if he cancels at least 1 critical_icon.png result.

so the defender isnt canceling the critical from the attack, the ion cannon is automatically cancels all dice results.

For example. While using Kath and an ion cannon I rolled 2 crits and a blank. My opponent canceled one of them, gaining a stress and an ion token. which was nice :D

Well, that was just silly of your opponent. There was no need for them to cancel {crits} when you attacked with an ion cannon because all they could possibly suffer was one damage.

they rolled the evade dice and rolled 1 evade 1 blank. I didn't think you could choose to not roll evade dice...

u cant. u have to roll evade dice, even if u dont want to.

Ah... you made it sound like they voluntarily canceled one of the {crit} results in some fashion other than by rolling the evade dice. My bad.

I had some past success with this list, using your same Kath setup. I don't think I liked it enough to bring to a tourney though.

I just liked the mass HP, and the fear that a 3 seismics can cause. Usually any non stressed/ioned ships won't even pull the k turn, and make a hard turn instead. I think I had another variation with intel agent, so no rebel captive. But added a seismic to Kath.

Kath + EH + Ion Cannon + Rebel Captive

Scimitar + Seismic

Scimitar + Seismic

Scimitar + Seismic

100pts

Tried Woman In Red last night and loved it! It was only one game against a less experienced opponent, but I like the way it flies. I chose to start the squints away from Kath. Between their awesome speed and Kath's big base it's relatively easy to converge on an ideal target. Also, the maneuverability of those Saber Sq. Pilots meant Kath got shot at when I wanted her to be.

Rebel Captive came in really handy when Colonel Jendon shot her while in the asteroid field. He couldn't perform a green maneuver to clear the stress without hitting an asteroid. Next turn Kath K-turned and Ioned the shuttle. If it weren't stressed it could have turned to avoid flying off the edge the following turn, but Rebel Captive sealed his fate.
