Zed 1.0 Question

Recommended Posts

Please help as i think i either dot understand something or playing incorrect

I have Zed 1.0 in play protecting my server and it is currently rezzed. It is the only ice in front of the server

The runner makes a run on this server but has no Sentry Ice breaker. My understanding is that the runner can get through to the server but would then have to forfeit the sub routines on the card. These subroutines however appear to be irrelevant as the runner has not spent a click . Is this correct ?

Why would you ever break the sub routines on this piece of ice as it seems to be a negative connotation ?

Thanks in advance

Ok I think i might have sussed this.

As it basically a supporting ice which would the 1st defence in a rig with maybe 2/4 ice in front of . Is this when it becomes applicable ?

Yep. Zed, on his own, is bupkis. Behind an Ichi or an Eli, however, he's nasty.

However, because of the need to draw him early and the ice he would support later, many consider him sub-optimal. You'd want 3 of him so that you would see him early, before drawing into other ice, but that hurts your ability to force the runner into the midgame with early ETRs. You don't want to see him late game, because you can't put him behind other bioroids.

It'll be fun to see what can be done with Tenma Line, though.
