New editable character sheet

Recommended Posts

First impression: looks really interesting, I'm definitely gonna try this. I was always irritated with the lack of space to write down advanced taken. The origial forms 15 spaces for advances vs. your 50, we both know who wins there. And your expansion on the psychic power secion is also very useful. Thanks for your hard work!

If I remember correctly, Acrobat Reader can't create or save .pdf files. So it might be because you have Acrobat Reader and not Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional.

I've seen someone suggest this extension for firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/636/

It supposedly gives you the option to save the PDF to your computer before opening the file. But I haven't tried it myself, so I wouldn't know if that's a sollution.

I will upload a new pdf later today that should allow you to save the pdf in Adobe Reader. I will post when it's uploaded. happy.gif
One annoyingly has to use "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" under Advanced in Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 to make it work. I have version 7 at home.enfadado.gif

This work around might work in the meantime: http://roazen.blogspot.com/2006/05/making-acrobat-reader-7-save-fillable.html
I haven't tried it so I don't know if it will work!

Titus, how did you do all the formular fields?

I was doing my own editable (and even a selfcalculating sheet to, the javascripts are all done) but i had to do all the formular fields manually since the acrobat automatism failed.

Can you ask your guy how he did it, or give me some possibility to contact him for myself?

New file uploaded! Now you should be able to save the file in Adobe Readerhappy.gif

Schwarzie, I used right-click - "create multiple copies" in a few places and the rest was all hard manual work.
I also used right-click and Align, Size or Properties(Change font, font size and fill colour). The formular fields tools really need a update i Acrobat Pro. It would be perfect if you could make the fields in Indesign or Illustrator.

Narf! I really hoped there would be an easyer way. I have the problem, that after ive done the first two or three hundred fields(mostly manually) that sometimes Acrobat changes the text color to withe on some areas where created formular fields! And no way to return it to normal. I haven´t found a patch for this and ist frakking annoying if youre nearly done... thats the reason why my sheet is so far only usable as a printed version. But especially in a scifi setting i like using selfcalculating sheets (even if here is not that much to calculate)

Thanks for the encouraging wordshappy.gif

Schwarzie – No easy way I’m afraid unless the tools have been updated in Acrobat 9 (CS4). I really understand your annoyance. I forgot to make fields some places and added them later thinking I could change the tap order later only to discover that the tap tool only can handle some 30-40 fields.sad.gif

Can you use check boxes like the ones under the stats in calculations? It would be cool, if the stat were increased by 5 for each box checked.gran_risa.gif

this is a great sheet. my group and i love it. the only thing we could see that was missing was a way to track ammo but that is such a minor gripe that it's hardly worth mentioning. we just keep track in the margins.

thanks for the work you put into this, it really is great. happy.gif

I have received a few questions about an easy way to make fields in Acrobat. There might be an easier way, if you got Indesign. I have not tried it so I don't know how well it works. Anyways here are a few links that might help. happy.gif
