Smugglers Alliance/Convoy - More YT-1300 Customs

Another quick update:

I've actually managed to get some more paint on the Flare, it will have a central yellow stripe flanked with black stripes but separated with a small white strip, it will be similar to another pattern I have used before on a standard YT-1300 cockpit move custom.

I've found a last few details that need to be added to the oota goota, will just tidy everything up this weekend and hope to get the flare painted. Looking forward to seeing these ships finished, they both have taken a while but have been fun to work on.

Latest update for the Oota Goota:

Just need to add a few more details with a couple of different shades on some panels and the engine glow and the ship will be finished. Really like how this ship has turned out, I like the pattern and the colour that the customer chose.

Also hadn't realised I've not yet posted any update for the solar flare, well until now:

The pattern is similar to one I have used for a previous YT conversion, I was going to have a slightly thinner pattern but I was asked the make it wider which I think was the better choice. Quite a simple pattern but I think the mix of colours work, the pattern wraps around the ship and continues underneath. I really enjoyed puuting together a version of the Sokar Flare.

Should hopefully have the Oota Goota ship finished this week and will be able to get it posted out.

No time got a break, while I was waiting for the other ships to dry I made a start on my next project seeing as my falcon miniature had arrived, I somehow managed to actually find a falcon model for sake, unfortunately this could very the last YT conversion for a while. I do however need to post sone photos of progress on a small project, missile racks for the fox catch miniature I out together.

Anyway, here is the beginning nope the YT custom.

The Oota Goota is still my favorite!

I think it's is a really cool looking ship, very different to the original YT layout, I do like the look of quite a lot of the other versions of the YT1300 but I do really appreciate the falcon setup. I've got to admit when I saw images of the solace flare design around I wasn't sure about how it looked and didn't really like it. I think I became more and more attached to it as I worked on the custom, after working on all of these different customs I don't hunk I could say I have a definite favourite any more.

I still need to have a look and try out some different customisations.

I thought, according to the books, at least, it was "Oona Goonta".

In the WEG Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters, it was the Oota Goota. Based on the line from Episode IV, the ship's name translates to "Going Somewhere", which i always thought was a pretty cool name for a ship.

As in the famous line, "Oota Goota, Solo?"

I can't seem to quote for some reason.

magadizer, I do believe it is from the line from A New Hope.  It is a cool name for a ship.

Thanks for all of the comments everyone!  Will hopefully will be able to get some more work done and post photo's of progress this weekend.

Will also be looking at trying out some new custom ships so if anyone has any ideas please reply to this thread or PM any ideas.

Thanks again!

I can, it's an awesome looking ship. engines look really cool and wouldn't be too difficult to fit.  Once Falcons are back in stock I'll have a look at some different customs, I'd quite like to try to get away from the Oota Goota cockpit though as I've done a few recently.  I'd definitely like to try something with big engines similar to this image.

I just want to pipe in and mention that I'm the customer on ZombieHedgehog's latest two YT conversions and thought it worth mentioning that he has been phenomenal to work with.  He's been great to collaborate with and bounce ideas off of and have been outstanding at keeping me in the loop as to the progress on the three builds he signed on for.

I simply couldn't be happier with the experience and the results have been spectacular.

Worth noting, the blaster cannon on the Solar Flare conversion came off of a custom HWK that he also did for me.  That ship came out equally amazing.

I'd like to see YT-2400 conversions someday soon.

Me too! Not sure what I'd do exactly but I'm sure I'll find something to do. Happy for people to post any ideas.

Good work as always, but do you ever build something other than YT-1300 conversions? Don't get me wrong, your work is fantastic but I would love to see what you can do if you completely scratch build something.

Seemingly, as just about all these models are commissions (unfortunately, I don't get to keep all of them) therefore I build what I'm asked to.m there are a few non YT ideas that I'd like to try out. I don't have much time at the moment to I do any research and have a look for new ships to build. I did begin a YT-2400 build from scratch but then that got out on hold with commissions and then with the announcement of the official YT-2400, I'd like to complete a few more scratch builds though. There are some photos on the YT-2400 somewhere on this thread.

Thanks for the kind comments Vinius, I do have to say that it makes things really easy when given freedom to be creative with a build bbt to also to have a good chat to discuss ideas and, like you said, bounce ideas off of each other.

Thanks to everyone else as well, if you would like to see anything a bit different please post images on this thread and once I've finished working on other peoples models I will try to get round to working on something new.

As requested, here is an image of the custom HWK that ZombieHedgehog did for me.  The intent was to have a custom HWK that still looked like an HWK.  This ship donated its blaster cannon to the Solar Flare YT build and ZHH replaced it with a sensor array; with the though that it would represent the recon specialist upgrade often seen paired with the HWK.  My request for the paint scheme was that it look like a ship that would be part of the Rebel fleet, so a standard issue base with red markings.  I don't have a picture of the sensor array, but here is an image of the completed ship.

As you can see, he clearly knocked my request out of the park.  This ship is exactly what I asked for.
