bogi_khaosa 267 Posted October 2, 2013 I don't get something with the Formation rules in EotI, As written, it seems to make no difference whether the formation "minions" are firing single shot or full auto -- crossbows or autoguns, it's all the same -- or if they have the Swift Attack Talent or Furious Assault Talent, say. Am I missing something? Is there some rule increasing number of hits in such circumstances that I have missed? (As an aside, Orks become absurdly weak when stuck into a formation. An Ork that it would normally take several shots to take down will go down in 1).
Nightcloak 18 Posted October 2, 2013 Ork have special rules (as most factions do), look up "Da Toughest, Da Meanest, Da Greenest" on p131 still easier to kill but not that easy anymore the formations are actually most useful for large battles with multiple squads so things get along faster and not really capture the intensity of 1 squad vs 1 or 2 other, thats the reason its so simplified and why most talents and firemodes dont matter
eriktheguy 12 Posted October 14, 2013 This is when it's the GMs job to declare that the formations are using full or semi auto. That said, these mook formations are likely going to be moved away or killed by the end of the session and their ammunition probably doesn't matter. bogi_khaosa 267 Posted October 14, 2013 Ammunition isn't the issue; the problem is that by RAW there is no difference between single shot and full auto at all.
Routa-maa 180 Posted October 14, 2013 I would say that now your just overcomplicating things. I go with written rules and not analyce them too much. And they have been simple enough for not making combat to bog down when I try to remember how many shots they can score.

There is a major difference between being shot at by 10 guys with autoguns and 10 guys with flintlocks!
Routa-maa 180 Posted October 15, 2013 I know, but do you want damage or slaughterfest? Formations gain 1 hit per DoS and +5x Unit Strength bonus to Challenging (+0) Ballistic Skill test, there are going to be hits. I count this reprecenting them pouring enough fire to make scene from Predator 1 (link here)
