Parasite and Ice Carver or Data Sucker

Recommended Posts

Does the "ice currently encountered" ability to lower strenght of Ice trash said Ice if it combined with a parasite brings the strenght to zero or less? Viruses seem pretty OP if this is the case.

Thankful for answers!

Not sure. The rules are rarely crystal clear in this game, or else there wouldn't be a busy rules forum where you get answers after five minues =)

But okay. Good to know! Follow up question; will the subroutines resolve before the Ice is trashed?

not OP? two turns on for a parasite and one run on a central server and a surge to trash an archer is not op?

You can't never rely on a single ice. Also, if the archer is rezzed it usually means a bad time for the runner.

I'll second that; a surprise Archer is incredibly painful. Parasite can kill any ICE given long enough and/or support, but then this is standard Anarch practice. Smart Corp players know when to Purge viruses from system, which helps alleviate this problem (as most people use Datasucker as primary Parasite support).

ICE destruction is a totally legitimate tactic for runners to pursue (even more so when you can Parasite mid-run due to Personal Workshop or Clone Chip), but you have to be mindful of the fact that the Corp can still defend against this if they play smart (multiple ICE on centrals to defend against Datasucker charging runs, advanceable ICE such as Ice Wall, and Purging intelligently for some examples).
