OggDude 3,594 Posted August 19, 2014 Just out of curiosity, how come the Age of Rebellion Beta is still one of the selectable sources now that the Core book is on the list too? The CRB removed a few things that were in the Beta, so I kept them with a Beta source.
OggDude 3,594 Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) Did you try installing them into a new directory? This was the first install, so ... yes it was in a new directory. I tried the Web Installer and got this error: However it took quite a while for the installer to run... so I'm retrying the Launcher and I'll just let it run for a bit and see if it ever gets there. I only gave it 5 minutes before, it might just need more time. You didn't install the 4.0 .NET Framework on your computer. Read the documentation. A link to the framework should be on page 1. OggDude 3,594 Posted August 19, 2014 Seems like [EITHER] is popular. What about [PIP]? Or is that not descriptive enough? I like the shortness of [FP], but it's meaning might be too ambiguous. I'd like PIP or FP. Either is kind of nebulous. Another option is to provide shorter versions of longer keys. "ADV", "PRO", "DIFF", "FP", but still have "ADVANTAGE", "PROFICIENCY", "DIFFICULTY", and "FORCEPOINT". I just feel like "EITHER" doesn't give any context at all about what it means, whereas all the other keys actually use the name of what they represent. Agreed. Wouldn't mind shortened versions of those, either. Another possibility (don't know how difficult it would be to implement), would be to add a button to each of the symbols we can insert, so we could just click that on the right side of the screen when entering text to shortcut past having to type out the words. Would that be something that you could do? Compelling arguments I'll do [FORCEPOINT] and look into adding shortened versions of the other symbols as well. I'll also see about adding links to the "help" document on the side that will add the tag to the description box.
Ebak 1,485 Posted August 19, 2014 I agree about shortened links. I cannot wait for the next update, got my Arda I and Far Horizons books today and my Force and Destiny Beta book is sitting on my shelf. Some (not all) but some of my players are excited about the Force and Destiny mechanics and I am trying to enter a lot of the stuff myself for the time being. On a side note...it has taken me 5 months of on and off typing but I have finally completely filled all the fluff from the books into the character generator. YES! evileeyore 454 Posted August 19, 2014 Finally got it to run, it just took a few hours... It's very slow on my system which is odd... it's not being a memory hog at all. It is occasionally spiking the CPU all the way to 100%... Is the program optimized for mutli-core? I've got a single core and that could be bottlenecking me. BrashFink 218 Posted August 20, 2014 Wow, I have not looked at this since the first month... it is AHH-Mazing now. Nice work. I love the customizations in here and the statblock export is crazy useful for Roll20. I am going to start using this for everything. 2 progressions and KevynnRedfern reacted to this

OggDude 3,594 Posted August 21, 2014 did you make the far horizons yet?? Yes, I bought FH this weekend, along with Arda. It looks like the kind and generous Donovan Morningfire has entered in a lot of the FH data already, which will be a great help. I'm still making changes for F&D, but I believe most of the work is done (almost done with the new Morality pane, added all gear and attachments, added code to support new mechanics, etc). I don't know enough about that end of computing... As for changing it, don't on my account. I've an ancient creaky old tub of a computer (I think the motherboard and cpu are pushing 10+ years) so I'm well past due to upgrade.
XNtr3k 5 Posted August 22, 2014 The only issue I have is being unable to turn off the unofficial items. For example, the Arc Welder that comes as a free weapon for a droid when you select the Astromech 'subspecies', or the Protective Goggles that I have been unable to locate in any of my books. I can uncheck all the books but one core book and these items still persist.

The arc welder actually belongs to the adversary astromech in the CRB, so I thought it would be fun to add it as a sub-species weapon for a PC astromech. The protective goggles can be found with Defel adversaries, and are added in case you create a Defel PC from the USM.
fatedtodie 452 Posted August 22, 2014 Oggy, Good thing you cleared that up. He cried for like a week on Reddit whenever someone suggested your character generator as an answer to a character sheet he wanted. He was very rude to anyone that suggested it and would not let go of the "this is homebrew!" flag he was waving. (this is referring to XNtr3k)
Stylo 0 Posted August 22, 2014 I'm getting an error when I try to run the web inbstall saying it's "already installed from a different location". I've uninstalled the program via the windows uninstall, I've scoured my hard drive and my registry for copies of the program or references to it, and I'm still getting the error. After doing all that, I even restarted by computer, for good measure. At this point, I'm totally lost. I'm able to use the manual install fine, but prefer to use the web install. Here are the error details, if that helps. Thanks! NicoJMont 123 Posted August 22, 2014 I can not wait for Force and Destiny to be loaded into the generator. OggDude did you get a copy of the book at GenCon? Or are you waiting like the rest of us? I hope you have a copy and we will see it in the generator soon a I want to start to beta test as soon as possible. I could add some content myself but with new rules like morality I am waiting for the official update

progressions 2,181 Posted August 23, 2014 Sorry if this is already covered in the thread; I went back a few pages but couldn't see it. Is there any way of getting this to work on a Mac? Thanks Vs I don't believe so, beyond installing Windows on the Mac and switching over to it. I have a PC but I use Chrome Remote Desktop to access my PC from my Mac's browser (so I can do things like edit characters remotely or at work). But that does require having the PC in the first place. I wish there was a Mac version! 1 voidstate reacted to this
