Daeglan 5,953 Posted September 2, 2016 So I installed the manual install. Opened looked at a character. noticed the crystal attachment was missing from the lightsaber. Closed the character generator with out saving. Opened my automatic version and all the characters are not seen by the character generator now. And If I try and import I get this error And it crashes. See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box. ************** Exception Text ************** System.ArgumentException: The path is not of a legal form. at System.IO.Path.NormalizePath(String path, Boolean fullCheck, Int32 maxPathLength, Boolean expandShortPaths) at System.IO.Path.GetFullPathInternal(String path) at System.IO.Path.GetFullPath(String path) at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.StartRaisingEvents() at System.IO.FileSystemWatcher.set_EnableRaisingEvents(Boolean value) at SWCharGen.CacheList`2.Add(T item) at SWCharGen.frmSWCharGenMain.CharacterButtonClick(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e) at SWCharGen.ImageButton.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at SWCharGen.ImageButton.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)So it appears the character creators mucks up attachments and mucks up using the old version...sigh

Is this from a web install? If so, uninstall (if you've already installed it), upgrade to the latest version of the .NET framework, and try a re-install. You can also try turning off any virus checker temporarily just while installing the app. Virus checkers can do all sorts of weird things under the hood, especially when it already thinks something is suspicious (such as downloading an unsigned executable named Setup.exe ). If all else fails, try the manual install with the ZIP. So updated net Turned off all anti-virus uninstalled Clicked Web install got same issue The error keeps pointing to the system.deployment.dll file have you checked it???: PLATFORM VERSION INFO Windows : 10.0.14393.0 (Win32NT) Common Language Runtime : 4.0.30319.42000 System.Deployment.dll : 4.6.1586.0 built by: NETFXREL2 clr.dll : 4.6.1586.0 built by: NETFXREL2 dfdll.dll : 4.6.1586.0 built by: NETFXREL2 dfshim.dll : 10.0.14393.0 (rs1_release.160715-1616) SOURCES Deployment url : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26990628/deploy/SWCharGen/SWCharGenLauncher.application Server : nginx IDENTITIES Deployment Identity : SWCharGenLauncher.application, Version=1.7.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0000000000000000, processorArchitecture=x86 APPLICATION SUMMARY * Installable application. Following failure messages were detected: + Activation failed. + The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) You ran into a known issue with ClickOnce installs. This happens occasionally, but not to everyone. Sometimes, a new deployment will fix it. Unfortunately, I have no control over how ClickOnce works, so I can't fix it . You may have better luck when 1.8 is released. In the mean time, you can use the manual install and just copy the contents of the ZIP file into a directory and run it from there. I have had this problem for months now. And I'm running 8.1 I think Oggdude meant 1.8 of his Creator. For now your best option if you haven't done it already is likely doing a manual install and excluding the directory/folder you put it in from all Anti-Virus programs. SladeWeston 229 Posted September 2, 2016 (edited) Can anyone explain the droid crafting to me. I crafted the frame and the programing, but is there a way to tie them together into a single item? I recall getting a prompt that asked if I wanted it added as gear but when I said yes nothing seemed to have happened. Anyone have better luck then me? UPDATE - Nevermind, I was able to answer my own question. The trick to crafting a droid is to not leave the crafting menu after making the chassis. Make the body, then hit the previous button until you get to the first screen and select the directive from the dropdown. Craft the directive, which will be auto applied to the chassis you just made and only after you are done with both hit finished. Not sure if that is the only way to do it, but it works. MjollnirAU 1 Posted September 2, 2016 I'm not sure if I am missing something, though currently running 1.8.0.0 beta. Although I am able to access the GM Tools and Data Editor, I am unable to open the Character Generator, either via the Launcher or the .exe file in the folder. I have tried running as administrator and attempted fixing the compatibility. If anybody know a fix for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Run as Windows 7. Backup data, uninstall, reinstall. So far, all the errors me and my friends have gotten have been resolved by one of those four. If those aren't working for you, I'd suggest posting your error logs. 1 MjollnirAU reacted to this

The version 1.8.0.0 keeps crashing in the generator only. It works for an hour or so. then gets an error box. Ill see if i can post the box next time it pops up. (Edit) its not letting me link the image. but it only seems to happen when there is a "pick one" option like for tinkerer and smooth talker. Was this on a podcast? Can't seem to locate this rule. Also, is it only +2 due to the +1 mods of the attachment, or +2 from the attachment and two +1 mods? Sileo 12 Posted September 6, 2016 Not sure if this is a new issue or not, but posting here for a sanity check. I remember the "Campaign" selection used to be sticky. When you selected a Campaign on the list of characters, it would remain selected when you went to another area on the creator and back. This seems to no longer be the case. Minor issue to be sure, but when running multiple campaigns that feature was handy to narrow down the character's involved.

Was this on a podcast? Can't seem to locate this rule. Also, is it only +2 due to the +1 mods of the attachment, or +2 from the attachment and two +1 mods? The attachment base is Blast 4, with 2 +1 Blast mods. The upgraded rule from the Devs states that if the weapon already has Blast that it is taken to the attachment only giving a base is +2 Blast, with 2 +1 Blast mods. This was in a Pod cast, cant remember from the top of my head which one it is from.

And since I found a hotspot that actually works, I just thought I'd get on and let you know that I've been reading the forum but I'm not going to be able to address any issues for another week. Once I'm safe and sound back home, I'll be able to work on the beta some more. I hope everyone likes the new features. 9 Aluthin77, bradknowles, Lifer4700 and 6 others reacted to this

Randy G 88 Posted September 9, 2016 Hey Oggdude, Correction on data - Spreadbarrel - the Devs have stated that when a player adds it to a weapon that already has the Blast quality that the attachment adds 2 Blast instead of 4. I guess I need to dig up that podcast, as I was under the impression that it added nothing at all. As the answer I received implies: Hello Randy, The spread barrel attachment would do nothing; the two blast qualities do not stack because the spread barrel attachment does not “add” to an existing quality. Hope that helps! Sam Stewart RPG Manager Fantasy Flight Games
bradknowles 4,449 Posted September 9, 2016 This is a great Tool Oggy! keep your good work! I've modified the Talent.xml with the real descriptions if you are interested. Let me know and I will send it to you! This has already been done by someone else. The problem is that OggDude can’t ship that version of the file with his program, because it would then be too close to copyright infringement, and he would likely be shut down by FFG and/or Disney. So, if you wanted to do that for yourself, that’s great! However, if you want to share that with other people, you should be careful how you do that — not only because of the danger that represents to you personally, but also the danger it represents to the entire community, if FFG or Disney were to decide that they have to shut down his entire program because of your modified version of that file. 5 Aluthin77, Donovan Morningfire, NSIBystander and 2 others reacted to this

Blackbird888 4,110 Posted September 11, 2016 @OggDude: Just a heads up, but I've found an editing error: Sleight of Mind's default setting is as an incidental in the editor, even though it's passive. Easy enough fix for any user, but I thought it would be good to let you know.
