aadh 385 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Just started painting my minis a couple weeks ago. Some of you may cringe to hear this, but I'm just using a basic acrylics set (mostly primary colors, all matte) meant for paper or canvas. These obviously aren't re-paints, just touched up and tweaked. But this is my first attempt at painting, and I am pleased with the results. Someday I may strip them all and use real paints, but in the meantime... Boomer_J 483 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Love your work! I used acrylics on my cr-90 with an airbrush. I didn’t but you can always use a clear coat to seal the paint. I absolutely LOVE your grey squadron Y Wings!!!! And the blue X wing to. Edited August 11, 2013 by Boomer_J 1 aadh reacted to this

PenguinBonaparte 516 Posted August 12, 2013 So is this all airbrush work? Is there any way to get the engine glow rather than a straight color on the Falcon's engine with a brush or two? I've been thinking about just doing the engines for my ships.

I've been thinking about just doing the engines for my ships. This is all paintbrush work. I have no idea how to airbrush. The Falcon's engine glow wasn't too difficult, but I did notice there's a print-out decal template on BGG. I don't have a printer, either, but I imagine that'd save some trouble. These minis are great out of the box, but the default grey engine panel on the Falcon really bugged me.
RedWilde 157 Posted August 12, 2013 Very nice work! Either acrylics or enamels work quite well for just painting over the factory job. 1 aadh reacted to this
PenguinBonaparte 516 Posted August 12, 2013 So did you put down a white layer, then blue, and rub a little of the blue off to get the white central glow?

aadh 385 Posted August 13, 2013 Which book are the tie interceptor pilots out of are they all the x-wing octology Baron Soontir Fel was introduced for the X-Wing Rogue Squadron comic series. It was an obvious analog to the Red Baron from WWI. Red stripes were painted on the side of the interceptors of the 181st for any ace with greater than 10 kills. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Soontir_Fel
