Josep Maria 685 Posted August 1, 2013 Hi everyone! As you probably would know, defense is a very important stat and I'm no capable to find so many sources about from where comes Defense. I will write the only one I know: - You can consider basic dificulty on attacks (from 1 to 5) - From some armors (from 0 to 2). - From Defensive Stance (1) - From talents like Dodge or "Melee Defense" (don't remember the name) (from 1 to 5?) - Cover (from 1 to 2?) Some of them are stackable but from designer notes it seems that only stacks those ones that specifically says it. Any more defense sources or any mistake on that list? Thanks! Bravo McWilley 5 Posted August 1, 2013 There are force powers that give setback defensive dice. There are numerous talents that give setback defensive dice: Dodge for example.
DVeight 38 Posted August 1, 2013 Cover starts at 1 though I believe it can go to 3 which would account for characters/NPCs being in gun pits, trenches, heavily fortified gun emplacements, etc. 1 is stock standard and is just a given by the simple fact of a player announcing they are going in cover, though it can increase where the abstract of the environment can support the higher value. Don't think it comes from anywhere else other than what you have listed.
Rikoshi 255 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) "Defense" is a specific term that refers to adding setback dice to a roll made against you. Defense can come from sources such as taking cover, wearing certain armor, or using the 'guarded stance' maneuver. Talents like Dodge, Side Step, and Defensive Stance actually upgrade the difficulty of checks made against you (i.e., turning purple dice into red dice). This is separate from Defense, and so stacking concerns do not apply. Edited August 1, 2013 by Rikoshi
