Predictions for the Nurgle Book?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so it would be a pretty good guess that the next book for this game will be Nurgle, so I am going to throw out my predictions.

First off, Archetypes. There will likely be four, two human, two CSM.

CSMs- Plague Marines, Obviously, and I am guessing Warp Smiths, not specifically Iron Warriors.

Humans-

That is a bit more of a toughy. I could see some type of corrupted Magos Biologis dealing with the spread of plague. No idea for the other.

Any thoughts on what this book will add besides the general theme of plague/decay?

Also, title. I am going with Tome of Decay as my first guess. Tome of Plague as the second.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing that the Nurgle Tome will contain only 2 CSM Archetypes: Plague Marine and Iron Warriors Warpsmith. Specifically Iron Warriors. The idea has been that every Legion should be represented.

I'm hoping that instead of squishing the Black Legion into the Nurgle Tome there will be an additional book after Nurgle that will contain:

1) Black Legion-based CSM (Chaos Lord?) Archetype; and

2) Specific rules on actually leading a Black Crusade.

As to the actual contents of the Nurgle Tome, I'm guessing just like the other Tomes just additional weapons, items, spells, etc. Unique to the Tome could be detailed sections on vehicular and large emplacement warfare, as well as a disease-based combat system.

Given the fact that most medicae based skills seem to be Nurgle there is the potential for a mad chirurgeon styled archetype. Someone who is a talented healer though using dubious means perhaps using potent bacteria and viruses to make the body stronger and heal faster. Also they may be able to temporary boost attributes like toughness and strength through the same foul means possibly at a price.

The other option perhaps being someone who has grown to adulthood on a nurgle planet and as thus has become immune to the negative effects of plagues and pestilences and has gained the innate ability to pass on these gifts to others.

Of coursethese are just guesses at stated earlier the human archetypes could go anywhere…….

so basicly a human "fabius bile" archtype? that'd be fun

Actually I didn't think of that, in many ways they would be similiar to Fabius Bile.

The main difference I think would be the focus, where the Chirurgen would be still primarily a healer just using more unorthodox or Nurgle related methods (after all one of the concepts of Nurgle and his followers is survival no matter the odds) whereas Fabius Bile is more interested in experimentation for the sake of improvement upon the design of the human/astartes body.

I hope to see something thematically like a necromancer - but with plague-infected 'zombie' minions rather than actual undead. Being able to brew up various strains of the plague that can give different shades to the plague zombies (fast spas-zombies vs. unstoppable shamblers vs. biological bombs that spray nastyness when they are killed).

Someone has been playing too much Left 4 Dead and Dead Island =) Both where fun games, but back to the topic

Festus the Leechlord from Warriors of Chaos. This guy gave me the creeps when I first saw him.

Some Imperial backwater towns new practitioner who makes concoctions to help his "poor" villagers who have in some "mysterious" way gotten ill.

I'd like to see a Nurgle themed assassin, mainly because I'd like to play one. Although Khorne represents violence and warfare, Nurgle has pure death under his portfolio, so it's not really a stretch. It would be interesting to see what they could come up with, since the skills and abilities traditionally associated with assassins in rpgs are mainly aligned to Slaanesh in black Crusade.

This concept was inspired by Daud's whaler assassin's in the video game Dishonored. Here's hoping that someone at FF was similarly inspired.

mY Predictions:

Plague Marine Archtype

Warpsmith Archtype

Stats for the following "critters:

Beast of Nurgle

Plague Drones of Nurgle

Obiliterators (assuming they're not already statted and I missed em)

Forge Fiend

Maulder Fiend

I'm also hoping that they'll slide vehicle rules in this one, to give the Warpsmith some new things to do.

I want to see a Warpsmith, and I assume that we will, but I'm not really seeing a Nurgle theme in them. I'm sure that they could be shoved into the book (and I'll be happy to have them), but I'm not sure how fitting they would be in this book.

plague marine and warpsmith are obvious. a churgeon and/or a poison based assassin seem likely, most likely something specific to a world in the screaming vortex. i like the idea of a character with the obliterator virus and going through the nine stages from infection to full on oblit hood

I don't think that we'll get something as "iffy" as a Warpsmith. More likely we'll get the Plague Marine and to it an Iron Warrior Space Marine with some cool ability, like we got the NIghtlord and the Alpha Legionnaire.

Maybe on the other hand, instead of a Word Bearer or World eater we got a Khorne Bezerker and a Dark Apostole. neither of which are traitor legion specific anymore. the WarpSmith and plague marine are kinda the last major archtypes not included in the game so would make sense to include. would I like to see an Ironwarriors WARsmith? absolutly. I just suspect we won't

Also the Warpsmith really can be made to work for iron warriors. they're teched out seige specialists basicly

I expect vehicles. Which means warpsmiths and plague marines, probably. PCs being made into helbrutes and obliterators would fit as well. And I hope we get rules for how to make daemon engines (there's a ritual for doing this, but there's no explanation of what sort of daemon you need, what the stats of it will be, or whatever).

I expect...

Plague Marines, Warpsmiths, an assassin archetype who dabbles in poisons or a twisted rat-catcher type who spreads vermin, or a twisted chiurgeon type who spreads the 'influence' of Nurgle.

Also, possible siege weaponry.

Figure the fourth book may be called "Tome of Attrition".

a Chiurgeon type seems logical, medicine skills are under the nurgle tree but we've not really got much that way. so I'd hazzard we'll get a poisoner and a Chiurgeon as our non marine archtypes.
