Requete 39 Posted March 15, 2009 I'm not sure if I misread the Calixis sector map... the map appears to be of star systems, but the entries in the rulebook talk about individual planets. Surely there's more than one world per system?

Surely there's more than one world per system? They are star systems, and yes there is more then one world in each system. However, generally each system has one primary planet, the other planets either being worthless, or generally administratively part of the main world. The system will also have any number of star bases, naval bases, asteroid mining, whatever the planet has, but will in general just be controlled administratively by the main systems planet. Remember that in any given star system, the "habital" zone of a star is relatively rather small even with the terraforming that occured way back when, so most of the worlds are just hunks of rock with a few bases on them. Another good example is the Solar System. Earth obviously is populated and would be the main world. However we know that Mars in inhabitable (and actually somewhat distinct from Earth but that's a rare case) and that there is at least one star base (where the Sanctioned Psykers are trained) and then any number of starbases around Mars (for the Navy). It wouldn't be a stretch at all to assume that there are hundreds of more bases etc scattered throughout the system. Now Calixis is a relatively new conquest in the grand scheme of things, so it wouldn't be as developed or as explored but its been around long enough to have bases and satellite operations on other planets outside the main planets
Requete 39 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks. That makes sense, especially since I suppose that Calixis is a bit of a backwater. The planet described is the mainworld... and everything else in system is either even cruddier or less developed than it.
stilcho 0 Posted March 16, 2009 Another thing to note is that there are several systems which do have multiple important planets on the map. for example the Fedae system on the western edge of the map has three planets. If you look around the map you'll see about a half dozen systems with dashed green circles around several planets, that's how they show planets in a single system as opposed to several nearby systems. link6413 0 Posted March 28, 2009 Also in case you haven't already seen it there is a copy of the map for download at the main site because the map in the book is actually wrong. There are duplicate planets and other errors.
