WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT WAVE 3 SO FAR (will be updating as more info is available)

(this is just going by the reports and pictures coming in)
 
 
 
 

What We Know So Far:

 

B-Wing

                Small Base

                Can carry at least  2  Proton Torpedos

                Comes with a card named ‘Fire Control System’

                ‘Nova Squadron Pilot’ costs 24 Pts (which may be the cheapest)

 

TIE-Bomber

                Small Base

                Can carry at least  2 missiles

                ‘Scimitar Squadron Pilot’ Costs 22 Pts (which may be the cheapest)

 

HWK-290  (this info is based on named pilots)

                Small Base

                Can carry an Elite Upgrade (which is on the named pilot), 1 Turret, 1 Crew Member

                Comes with a ‘Moldy Crow’ title and ‘Recon Specialist’ Crew Member

                Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, and Roark Garnet can pilot the ship (so far) most expensive pilot is 25

                Can Focus and Target Lock

                Stats are: 1 ATK   2 DEF  4 HULL  1 SHlELD

 

Lambda Shuttle (this info is based on named pilots)

                Large Base

                Can carry a Radar or Transmitter Upgrade,  1 Cannon, 2 Crew Members

                Comes with ST-321 Title Card (Darth Vaders Transport) and ‘Advanced Sensors’ Upgrade card

                Colonel Jendon can piot the ship (Cost is 26)

                Can Focus and Target Lock

                Stats are: 3 ATK  1 DEF  5 HULL  5 SHIELD

      Immediately before you reveal your maneuver, you may perform 1 free action.

 If you use this ability, you must skip your “Perform Action” step during this round.

 

 

-          ST-321 (Title Card, cost 3)

-          Recon Specialist (Crew Member, cost 3)

-          Moldy Crow (Title Card, cost 3)

-          Advanced Proton Torpedoes (Torpedo Card, cost 6)

-          Fire Control System (Unknown Upgrade, cost 6)

           (apparently the FIre Control System upgrade can give free target locks)

Probably worth nothing that we also are getting a new torpedo type - "Advanced Proton Torpedo".

 

No idea what that is, but I assume it's just a type of torpedo, so the Y-Wing can field it, too.

Maybe a torp with a homing missile-type ability. Keep your target lock after you fire it or something more along the critical hit lines…? It is worth 6 points after all.

Really hoping between the HWK and the B-Wing, Y-Wings get some options here to rescue them from the scrap heap…

 

Huh, so, Bombers are throwing twin missiles? Well, I guess I can see some builds happening with twin homing missiles…

that will be absolutely disgusting.. you can bet they will be targeted down first, so i imagine people will only run 1 per list due to it's high priority crosshair on it's forhead

 

on the other hand, it will take pressure off of interceptors.. so that alone will be worth the points

I'm truly impressed with one of the pilot cards being a reference to the old "Star Wars RPG" from West End Games. Roark Garnet was an smuggler NPC in that game that appeared in the core book.

You bet! Coast a couple of these at the back and flanked/guarded either by a Flight group of academy pilots or howevermany Alpha squadron pilots I can fit into the list! Forward 1s until the target's in range, then let 'em have it! If I need to trade around points or don't have enough cards, drop the double Homing missiles and replace with Concussions or Cluster missiles.

If I know it's a mirror match with a pilot who flies swarms like I do, two bombers with four assault missiles between them makes for instant strike craft removal. I knew the Bomber was going to be fun ordinance fun!

…but this is also why I expected/desired twin torpedoes instead of twin missiles, because it didn't seem so imbalanced that way. But! FFG is calling the shots, and obvioulsy they don't have a problem with giving twin missile slots to the Empire on one of their cheaper and generic starfighters.

I wonder if they make torpedo or missile mods in the next wave to allow an X-Wing to fire a missile or an Advanced to fire a torp.

Always glad to see new ship announcements.  Kind of odd that there is a shuttle paired with a legacy assault craft.  Also, the Moldy Crow has no forward cockpit window!  Do you fly it like Ace Ventura?

Yeah, that's definitely a nice touch.

I mean, we've already been getting several characters from the video games, and more, now, with Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors, so…just cool to see!

Yeah, that's definitely a nice touch.

I mean, we've already been getting several characters from the video games, and more, now, with Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors, so…just cool to see!

 

I agree, Jedi Outcast was a badass series, I'm glad they're using some of the SW lore from it.

Ha-ha! yes, I was chatting for a while with one of the FFG peeps and we mentioned how we were all expecting TWO big ships. Then, they threw a wrench into the postulatin' with the Crow. Sure didn't see THAT coming! Looks really cool, though; but it's quite small.

As a side note, during the chat with the Devs, it was mentioned that in coordination with Lucas it has been established that as of this time the canon length for the HWK is 16.5 meters. If you knew different, it is 16.5 meters, period. Hey, nice to get something difinitive, right?
