Runners running out of cards

Recommended Posts

Unless I'm absolutely missing something, I can't find what happens if the Runner's deck runs out of cards. I know the Corp loses the game in that situation, but nothing is said about the Runner. Do they keep playing with no cards to draw or do they reshuffle their heap and start with a new stack?

Alright. I think they might wanna add that to the FAQ at some point, because my friend is convinced that the runner just reshuffles and keeps going, which doesn't seem fair to the corp. I dunno if that was the way it was in the original game, but I can't see how that's balanced, so thanks for clarifying!

That's not how it was in the original game, I'm pretty sure.

I'm not convinced that it needs to be in the FAQ - ask your friend where in the rules it says the Runner gets to reshuffle.  It doesn't say you can win by building a little card house out of your deck either, but I don't think your friend would have a hard time with the idea that that isn't allowed.

It's not impossible to run out of cards as the Runner, but it is unusual - you know that the Runner doesn't get to draw for free, right?  I only ask because it's a common mistake to make in your first couple of games.

While I do agree with you I also think it should be in the FAQ. I got into this same argument last night, and while I pointed out that it doesn't say that the runner gets to re-shuffle, they were quite fixated on the point that it doesn't say what they should do. A simple clarification would help, especially with new players who aren't used to this games dynamic.

It doesn't need to be in the FAQ. The rulebook tells you that the corp is affected by running out of cards by losing, nothing similar is noted for the runner.

I really fail to see why people feel the need to FAQ every single possible circumstance in this game. Let's not FAQ to death this game.
