40k Tabletop that decides DH missions, HELP!

Recommended Posts

Was wanting some help with ideas I've got on how to best do a 40k tabletop campaign that will influence the DH universe for my players. Had the idea of a "winning" army being the focus of the next mission. For instance if out tyranid player were to do good we would be playing a modified version of the Death Watch mission "Price of Hubris". I need help for the overall idea and how to best do it. So far we have 6 armies (Tau, Space Marines: Salamanders, Dark Eldar, Tyranids, Necrons, Imperial Guard) and I was hopping to have each player face each army with a best out of two games deciding the outcome (each game being a different point cost of 750, 1250, and 2000-2500). So have any of you tried this or what would you do?

Hiya,

Is the campaign played over a map?  I.e do the battle determine who controls particular areas etc?  If so I would have an adventure taking place in this warzone with the outcomes of the battles determining the issues with moving into particular areas.

So for example, taking the SIlver Peak campaign as a starting point - the PCs need to get to execution square to recover a relic that has been uncovered by the fighting.  Will they be able to walk in and demand it from the Imperial Guard who have just taken control of the square (politicol mission) or have the filthy xenos Tyrannids managed to push them out (stealth/combat mission).

http://gwpertinent.blogspot.co.uk/2010/02/vogen-map-based-cities-of-death.html - is the campagin I am talking about.

Otherwise you could just have a series of scenarios written and the PCs just play whichever one is most appropriate.  That does however seem to me to be a lot more work for you because you'll end up writing adventures that don't necessarily get used… Could be fine if you run a lot and can keep them for another time.
