Quick Question on Char Creation

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am new to RT and have a few questions on char creation. When you create a RT char you get stating skills and talents as listed in the brown box.

1) Is this basic trained or just basic?

2) Do you get all the talents?

3) Why do the talents and skills "double up" in the rank chart e.g. basic shows awareness and then rank 1 shows you can purchase awareness again, why is this?

Thank you in advance.

3) These are only listed for completeness. The character already has most of the skills/talents listed at rank 1. You do not need to purchase them 'again'.

I recommend downloading the Errata and FAQ.

Thanks a lot, that clears things up.

I have another question. What is classes as an ally? Is it friendly NPC's, PC's or just anyone in the party that is on your side in general?

That depends pretty much on the situation. In what context did the "ally" thing come up?

Alli gains a bonus of 10% to one test. The Rogue trader special.

I'd say that would be anyone who willingly works for or with the RT. Other player characters, crew members, hired locals and so on.

Thats what I though, thank you.

I read in the Core Book somewhere, that the starting gear, skills and talents, are actually all bought from the Rank 1 list using those initial 4,500 xp. So don't think of them as "doubled up"... think of them as already purchased  :)   (which leaves the question, why leave them on the Rank 1 table)

Good luck!
