Trace Amount Data Pack Announced with preview card

Recommended Posts

I'm a little confused by the number of cards in the data pack.

3 copies each of 20 cards + 1 new identity or 3 copies each of 19 cards and a couple singletons? There being no reason to have 3 copies of the identity card.

Depends on how they define their 'quarters,' but you're probably right.

I think we'll see What Lies Ahead in November, though.

Quarter 4 is October to December.

There will be 3 of each identity card. Same as there is 3 agendas and plots in A Game of Thrones.

Not always.

Since I'm fairly certain Fantasy Flight is not a Hedge Fund, Chinese or Hassidic, I am going to imagine they start counting in January.

Many companies (especially retailers, my previous experience coming from being a GameStop mananger) have their quarters go through February to et all of the holiday shopping in for Q4.  I would, in fact, be shocked if FFG's Q4 ended in December.

Since the game night kits for 3rd quarter were released in July. And 3rd quarter would be July, Aug, Sept. I think I am pretty safe in saying that 4th is October, November, December.

Meh, whatever.  Not worth further discussion.  Continue speaking in absolutes to your heart's content.

No need to be pissy. Just basing it on available information. No one is speaking in absolutes. I was providing information to back up my belief of how the quarters were running. Assuming ChaosChild is correct sadly that means it might be an even longer wait till the quarter 4 OP kits come out and they are to include Android: Netrunner with the others.

Past information on releases from FFG has confirmed that as far as they are concerned, Q4 runs until at least February. It seems there's a distinct overlap between Q4 of one year and Q1 of the nxt.

Or possibly just production delays, as happen all too often.

It doesn't make good sense to have Q4 mean a different thing than the general meaning when you are talking to the public, as opposed to talking about your fiscal year.

Regardless, I'd like to see the first one released before we start discussing the second one.

Not being 'pissy.'

Just realizing that all we're doing is speculating anyway, and neither of us can be sure we're right, so it doesn't matter ultimately.

All I was saying is that absolutes (always, never et al) are frequently wrong.  Some companies/undustries don't follow the standard when it comes to quarters/years.

I think most likely for release dates they use the standard calendar quarter and their fiscal year is something entirely different. Especially since they say that this pack will be out the 1st quarter of 2013. So I think we are looking at a December and a January release date for pack 1 and 2.

However in regards to seeing stuff from the second one already, get used to it. FFG does this with all releases so they can allow at least a 3 month window for ordering from distributors and retailers. We will see continue to see previews for future packs in advance of the release of earlier ones. Before this cycle ends we will see another large preview showing the next cycle or a large expansion if they do a large expansion.

A three month lead sounds right. FFG just announced the third pack of the next cycle in AGOT, and the last pack of the current cycle should come out this month. I can understand steeling your expectations, but I don't think we need to be so pessimistic. With Netrunner being one of their newest games, I think they'll place a high premium on making sure to hit release dates; I would be quite surprised if we didn't see What Lies Ahead in December.

There's a preview up at the moment for pack #4 in the next cycle for Warhammer:Invasion, the first pack in that cycle hasn't hit the shops yet. Since all the packs in a cycle are designed and printed at the same time, FFG tend to show previews quite some time in advance.
