Pilot Abilities that Affect Attack and Defense

Wedge, Horton, and Maarek have special abilities that say "attack" and not "attack with a primary weapon."  So, I'm assuming they work with both, correct?

For example, if Horton uses a photon torpedo or ion cannon, he can reroll all his blank dice?

Same  for Luke who has a special ability that works on defense.  This works for defense against both primary and secondary weapons, correct?

 That's how I read them.  They apply to all weapons.  

This makes Wedge a killing machine with torpedoes and marksmanship, but then you pay through the nose for him with this loadout as well.
