What ships would you like to see next?

To an extent, I agree with what you're saying. But the logic is flawed. If we're trying to stick to the movies there aren't really any options for the Rebels in the medium ship range. The shuttle makes an appearance in the movies on both sides. And if you do want to allow the EU at all, the shuttle is most definitely not an Imperial specific thing.

If you allow EU, then Rebels should have access to limited amount of TIE Fighters as well. It's dubbed the Imperial shuttle, it would just feel wrong playing it on the rebels. I'm mostly just talking movies to be honest, and not EU, and using movie logic, the Imperial shuttle is, well the Imperials, anyone could fly it, but it doesn't mean they would choose it. I'm positive they have the blue prints, but they only use it to get somewhere, they don't produce them for a reason.

If the Lambda is in wave 4 then it's going to be an imperial craft. It's often called the 'Imperial shuttle' and it's manufactured by Imperial factories. It made it's debut ferrying Darth Vader to the Death Star, as well as carrying the Emperor, and masquerading as an Imperial shuttle. It will be an imperial craft.

If it's safe to presume wave 4 will be the B-Wing, TIE Bomber, and Lambda shuttle speculation falls on what the second rebel fighter/vehicle is going to be. I suggested the Lambda because it makes sense to give the Imperials a Medium/Large vessel of their own. Slave I, or so I gather, isn't classified as a medium in spite of how tricked out it's going to be. So whatever rebel-equivleant you can think of for that fighter might be what we get for wave 4.

It's entirely possible we could all be surprised and the Z-95 is chosen instead. It's a popular EU fighter with many "independent" interests usually aligned with the rebels and might also be tricked out and customized as Slave I is. My other guess would be the E-Wing for no particular reason other than a gut feeling. Personally I'd want the R-41 to show up, following up on it's appearance in

, but I think it's a little too much to hope for.

Nope, it's definitely a medium, the base is not the fighter-sized base of the X-Wings, TIEs, etc.  It and the Falcon are both Mediums.

How do you know the Slave and Falcon are Medium, and not large? I've heard you match the size of their base if you put about 4 regular sized ones together, that seems rather large to me. Other "Large" Ships would be A correllian corvette, and come on, no one seems them making those.

I'm with you, Harleequin, I still don't see why everyone on these forums insists that these are "medium" ships.

They are Large for the purposes of this game.

Yeah exactly! I myself ordered a Corellian Corvette and Star Destroyer Toy (Still hasn't arrived) For purpose of House - rule, games, and for fun, but traditional dogfight, these ships are definitely large. The regular ships aren't "Small" Either, they are just, regular :) either way, I'm very excited for wave 2, and I've been playing battlefront 2 recently, so I hope to see those ships sometime in the future haha

In one of FFGs announcements of the larger ships, they actually referred to them as 'medium' ships.  This is part of the reason it's sticking.  The other reason is the overall universe where really even the Falcon is pretty small.

I doubt we'll see anything much bigger than the falcon as it's just not realistic when done to scale.

My apologies, my intention was only to counter the sentiment that it was small like the fighters.  Be it medium or large, I can't say, but it's a larger base than the fighters and is a larger class of ship.  Perhaps they are large and something like the B-Wing and TIE Bombers are medium?  That would certainly feel right as the B-Wing is a bump up from an X-Wing, but not really on the same level as the Falcon, also as many have said and I tend to agree, the Falcon and Slave 1 are about as big as ships can get in this universe and still dog fight.

Honestly I’d rather FFG come out with a Pirate/Criminal Faction before bothering with Prequel Trilogy ships. They have more than enough to work with:

M3-A Scyk Class Fighters
M22-T Krayt Gunship
M12-L Kimogila
Ixiyen-class Fast Attack Craft
Rihkxyrk Assault Fighter
Kihraxz Light Fighter
Vaksai Fast Attack Craft
Starvipers

And those are just some generic ships they could use…not even including the countless uniques….

Yeah, a neutral/mercenary faction would be nice. I was hoping the Falcon and Slave 1 would have neutral YT-1300 and Firespray cards with them, sort of like how the TIE Advanced has both X1 and standard versions.

Eh, I'd think most privateers and pirates would be rebel-aligned craft. Given their mode of operation they'd fly almost anything to fight the empire with. Even R-41s, pirates in TIE fighter, showed up as Rebel craft in The Force Unleashed. Same with Z-95s.

On the other hand anyone aligned with the hutts, Sith, or criminal syndicates (like black sun) will probably show up as imperial ships. Apart from the setup diagram I don't think there's anything preventing a player from having opposing players fly ships from the same faction… just as long as you keep track of which ship is yours.

Pirates, Rebels, eh same thing gui%C3%B1o.gif.  I would definitely prefer to see more Rebellion era EU ships before they start making prequel stuff (if they intend to that is).  Not against bringing prequel stuff in (I ain't a hater), because I know some people really like the ships, but c'mon, the coolest ships are in classic EU.

Bottom line is though I really hope they keep releasing waves for years to come, because they will get my money.

With the impressive amount of detail at this scale I really want to see what a TIE Defender would look like… and possibly buy several. It's the most beautiful TIE fighter of the lineup after all and popular enough that it might be possible to see one.

I definitely wouldn't say Pirates=Rebels. Heck, with the ships I listed, they could go for a far more specific criminal faction. I put down several Hutt ships as well as Black Sun. Either could easily be made into a faction and in that way kept particularly distinct. The Hutts and Black Sun are definitely not even collaborators with the Rebellion…

If you don't know what this is, then go look it up. But the V38 "Phantom" TIE Fighter would be an interesting miniature. It's cloaking abilities would make it a formidable opponent. I would also like to see the Gallofree GR-75 Medium Transport. If you don't know what that ship is, it's the first Rebel Transport that escapes from Hoth in ESB. We are using the one that comes from the Rebel Base model made by ERTL. It is close to scale and works great for escort missions.

I was just really making an Imperial jab at Rebels.  happy.gif  But you are right, they would really need to be well armed pirates before they had anything such as X-wings.  We could definitely use some Star Vipers for the Black Sun, at least!

Once again I second Norsehound about the Tie Defender!

And yes, the TIE Phantom would be very interesting with cloak capability.  It'd be curious though as to how it could be balanced.  I can't remember what its weakness was.

I love learning about all these new ships in the EU I haven't heard of before, TIE Phantom could be a nice ship with cloak ability, but it would have to have a pretty major down side to it as well. Maybe cloak could be an action and can't attack the turn it uses it? Or only have like 1 attack point?

Heck yeah for the Moldy Crow!  I am very eager to see what allegiance symbol will be on the generic pilot card for the Firespray and YT-1300, that is, if there even is one.  I sure hope we are not only limited to Fett and Solo with these two ships, that'd be real let down.  As a matter of fact, it would not feel right for Fett to use the Imperial symbol in my opinion.

But Fett is not his own faction; he joins the side of whomever is paying him credits. In this game, there are only two factions and Fett is only seen working for the Imperials in the movies. He works for Jabba too, but Jabba is not a faction in this game. I, for one, am completely comfortable with Fett being Imperial.
