What ships would you like to see next?

I would also like to see some same pilots in different ships. As booster packs of course. For example Tycho Celchu in an X-Wing (with the same pilot skill probably in his case but perhaps with a different ability, idk) would certainly not be wrong, since he flew an A-Wing pretty much only during the Battle of Endor. Another example could be new additions from the expanded universe. Rogue and Wraith squadron offer so many shining examples of interesting Pilots (as do their inperial counterparts) there should be no difficulty finding people they could use.

I would say yes to pilots that cross factions too because a lot of them actually did change sides during the conflicts, but it would get problematic regarding their uniqueness. Although you can on tournaments also have the same pilot twice if you play Rebel vs. Rebel or Imp vs. Imp. In friendly games you could just find a solution together who flies Boba Fett and for which faction. Then it would be okay.

Without wanting to heat up the discussion again, i would not mind if FFG would expand not only to expanded Universe but also to Episode 1-3 Stuff. For tournaments you have mirror matches anyway so why be against Old Republic vs. Rebel matches or Empire vs. Separatists… and in friendly games you could just decide if you wanna play thematically or with factions pitted against each other that could not have been because they didn't exist in the same era.

I would honestly rather see that happen than them digging out very unknown and perhaps impopular galactic civil war era ships.

I think it's a good chance that card-and-chipboard expansion packs with new pilots and upgrades for existing ships will appear sooner or later. The dice packs are available for purchase, so it's not like releasing component parts seperately is unprecedented. The game isn't even a year old after all and we're only two expansions in.

Of my favorite ships, the most obscure is probably the T-Wing. Plenty of people have played TIE Fighter and might remember what it is, but only the TIE Defender, and surprisingly the R-41 Starchaser have appeared outside of the flight sim (In the Force Unleashed II, as Rebel fighters accompanying the Y-Wings). The Assault Gunboat also hasn't had much coverage but it's more popular than the T-Wing.

For myself fighters from the comic continuity are obsecure IMO, but a number of them look interesting.

I don't know… I still don't feel like we should expect alternate factions. I suppose it's a hunch based on how they released Slave I. If there are future alternate factions, I would expect it to be the Republic and Seperatists from a clone-wars version of the game.

I wasn't really thinking of new ships actually.  Instead of having cardboard containers and asteroids, have minitures for those pieces.

I expect to see some Wave 5.5 Imperial stuff, but after that I'd really like this guy:

Ideally: Rules-wise this would be no different from the Y-Wing already in the game, just an alternate sculpt. It would include new Y-Wing ship cards (hopefully some that include a crew slot) and a new turret upgrade of some kind (Twin Blaster Turret: 3 damage, range 2-3, requires a target lock but you don't have to spend the lock to make the attack, costs 6 points or so).

I love that idea, but there's a major hurdle to clear: Salm + R2-D6 + Deadeye + your Twin Blaster Turret is a monster, hitting like a Falcon with a TL+F stack (and no bonus defense dice for range), and he's only 27 points plus the cost of the turret.

And a HWK with an EPT can pull a very similar trick. Kyle + Deadeye + Recon Specialist + "Twin Blaster Turret" is 31 points and hits hard while also spreading around a token. Jan + Deadeye + "Twin Blaster Turret" is the same 31 points, and in addition to her own 3 dice + focus every round, she offers a nice buff to someone else's offense.

I do totally agree that we need a new turret or two, though.

Yep, those are nasty. Nice to see Deadeye getting some more action. :)

 

Plenty of ways to fiddle with it to keep it in balance: Range 1-2 / 1-only / 2-only / 3-only; remove 1 attack die at range 3; turn all crits into blanks.

 

Seems to me there's also a need for a Heavy Ion Cannon and HIC Turret.

For turret ideas I have the following..

 

Enhanced Ion Turret - 7 pts

Works same as current, except range 1-3

 

Repeating Blaster Turret - 4 pts

Nothing required to fire, range 1-2, works like cluster missiles except you get two 2-dice attacks instead of 3-dice attacks.

Can use both attacks at one target or one each at different targets.

 

Fire-Linked Ion Cannons - 4 pts

Range 1-3, but only forward firing arc.  3 attack dice.  Defender suffers ALL damage from the attack dice (including crits), as well as receive an ion token.

Asteroid Launcher Turret - if this attack hits, drop an asteroid from 18 inches above the table.   Any ship it hits rolls 1 red dice and suffers any damage shown. 

 

I'm surprised the game doesn't have something like that already.
