11th Hour RPG-Day Demo

Looking good and I'm ready for Free RPG day on the 16th.

For any FFG folks who are monitoring these forums … can we get 2 additional PCs posted online? It has been FFG's policy in the past to provide 2 additional PCs for the free RPG day scenario online a week or two before the event. It would be nice if you could do that for this one as well, so I can offer a choice of PCs to the players and can easily handle up to 6 players, without needing to fudge or home-generate PCs.

Thanks!

I consider it almost certain that additional PCs will be provided.

By the way, from that cover it looks like we'll get a Commissar, a (Sentinel) driver, an Ogryn and some kind of generic Catachan badass to play with. Is that right?

i also hope for extra characters, for at the moment the only option for healing is a npc. i am going to say no to any sort of officer or commisar showing up, simply due to how many times the adventer harps on your low rank as a guardsman.

my two hopes are medic and or a generic guardsman( at the monent not a single person starts with a lasgun sorpresa.gif)

As of yet, I have only skimmed the adventure.

However, I'm not sure what htsmithium is saying. I know for a fact that one of the four PCs has the Medicine skill.

Sure, he's not a "medic" profession, but he can work as a healer.

Cifer: I'm not sure how much information I should/can divulge ahead of time.  I'll simply say for now that you are correct for 2 of the 4 PCs.

Catachans are based on Rambo. What did you expect?

Almost.   Leaks of what it contains are!

Commissar, Enginseer, Ogryn, and a 'commando' sort.

As for the additional PCs.  Any other year, I'd agree.  But this year they've been so slow about any updates or previews at all I only give it a 50-50

I wouldn't hope too much for additional NPCs. With Black Crusade FFG dropped the free follow-up adventure, I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the additional NPCs this time.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks that it's funny how they put a commissar and a Catachan into the same group? I'm pretty sure I remember a rule from an old codex where commissars in Catachan armies had to roll to see if they would turn up for the battle or would be indisposed due to some kind of "accident". So, the commissar is going to shoot whoever fails a willpower test, unless the commando kills him first.gran_risa.gifgui%C3%B1o.gif

The four pregens are a Heavy Gunner, a Weapons Specialist, an Enginseer and an Ogryn.

I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of extra characters for when I run this at FRPG Day. The more players the merrier!!!:) I love the pic for the Heavy Gunner, FFG.:) Ripley FTW!

Rather than hold my breath waiting for official extra characters, I thought I'd start work on one (or two) myself. Taking a little longer than I'd hoped…

FFG was also dropping almost weekly previews of Black Crusade by this point too.  Hence why I'm a bit less optimistic about lots of support material for the Only War Free thing.   As it stands, unless they drop something next week, the Free RPGday product will be the first real preview we've gotten since the announcement a few months ago now.

If people are in London, UK and are looking to play 11th Hour on Free RPG day, I will be running it at Leisure Games from 9:30 am this Saturday.

Geez folks, the bonus characters are up already. They are a ratling, comissar and ogryn. It looks like Dark Heresy level power-level with BC rules from what is in the supplement

I can never remember, how long after Free RPG Day do they put the adventure up for download?  The "FLGS" here makes you buy a book or something before they give you any of the booklets, they won't give them for free and just buying a set of dice isn't enough. T_T  Plus, they aren't big on the "friendly" part of the title and I'd rather not give them any business if I have to…but I want to play!

Report them to the FRPG day people.  they WILL come down on them for doing that.  As they sign in the contract they will give them away for free to anyone who asks.

By the way, now that I've read about the original 4 characters… just how much Vasquez is in the Heavy Gunner?

I thought I read something on the FRPG website that said they have no control over how the stuff is given out.  That's why I haven't bothered.  It was wierd, I had called to see what time they were starting all of the games and things and the guy was really rude asking why I, some other people, thought we could just walk in and take free things without buying some merchandise.  He was awfuly rude, all I had wanted at the time was to actually play there!  I cried.

That's enough from me though.  Thanks Gaire for the answer.

I am guessing "Unaware Target" is like "stunned" or something like that?

And interestingly, it looks like Ogryns don't get Unnatural Strength or Toughness.

I think the Orgyns have Unnatural Strength and Toughness 2 and the Hulking Trait which grants about +5 wounds and size hulking.

Reading the extra characters, it seems they went with the BC rules (since standard attacks are at +10, juding by Zara's sheet) meh..don't knwo how that will work, I might stick with Dh rules for combat perhaps, except if globally, it works well.

As far as I understand DH, RT and DW were all part of the original deal between Games Workshop and Fantasy Flight. Whereas BC and Ow are part of new deal, by virtue of this they decided to change the system a bit.

Personally I'm not a big fan of the new version, although I admit it fixed some issues (e.g. Burst fire as a full action was too punitive for the players). Anyway adjusting the character from one system ot the other is quite easy.
