Well, look at that.

My friends and I have started calling it "Netrunner" because that is what it is. I'm sure that most of the mechanics from the original game will be implemented at some point even if they aren't in initial release. That's just an LCG thing and having it slightly less confusing in the base set is fine by me.

I really hope they do end up releasing this at Gencon. If they do I plan on playing it all Gencon weekend.

Yeah, I guess it's old enough that the confusion is minimal.  I still say that I play the Call of Cthulhu LCG since it hasn't been THAT many years since the CCG version, but perhaps in Netrunner's case enough time has passed that this is unnecessary?

I'm probably going to try to arrange my Gencon event schedule to have at least one evening totally free to play Netrunner, but it's always hard trying to juggle events.  There's far more going on than I can possibly do in just 4 days and they all seem to be scheduled at the SAME TIME.

Something's going to have to get cut :(

Shadowrun is still around, as mentioned above. And the Kickstarter fundraising for a proper computer game was successful:

Shadowrun the P&P RPG is still around, yes, but not the Shadowrun CCG.

I remember trying it back in the day and being impressed, but not enough to really get into it. The card design was pretty dull, from memory.

I can't see any way at all to do a multiplayer variant with the exception of 2v2 with shared resources.  The gameplay lends itself to a duel mechanic far too easily.

My friends and I tried making a variant where three hackers went up against one megacorp. We made it through a few variations (turn order, megacorp actions) before we stopped. It was fun for the most part.

This is how I think a possible expansion for A:N would work, ala Magic: Archenemy or the WoW Raid Decks. These have proven that a one v. many format can work in a card game, and with some tweaks and some cards exclusive to the format it could be fun and successful. I hope that at some point someone involved in the game attempts to give this a go. It would make for a fun Deluxe Expansion.

I agree. Myself, I'm thinking of the 'Middle-Earth Quest' boardgame which supports playing 1-3 heroes against Sauron:

Basically, there's three categories of actions for the Sauron player paid for using action tokens with diminishing returns if you use them for several actions of the same category. With every additional hero Sauron gets more 'action tokens'. It's noticeable though, that the game gets easier for the Sauron player the more heroes are in the game. So it's not easy to get the balance for such a multiplayer game right.
