From Beyond Trait and insanity points

Recommended Posts

CoreRuleBook pg 365

"The mind of the creature with this trait is beyond the petty frailties and precarious sanity of a mortal mind.  It is immune to fear, pinning, insanity points and psychic powers used to cloud, control, or delude its mind"

When it says immune to insanity points, is the intent that you NEVER take an insanity point or that you take them, but it does not harm you???  There are a few skills that when used cause insanity points, so does you total climb towards 100??  Or does it freeze where it is at when you get the "From Beyond Trait?"

If you total still climbs then when you hit 100 does it matter?

Thanks

When it came up in my game, I treated it as "you NEVER get another insanity point, no matter what".  Disclaimer:  I have not seen any official ruling on the subject.

A character who hits 100 insanity is retired from play (or becomes a Black Crusade character).  So, if they still gain IP's, that really nerfs a very expensive advantage.

Cheers,

- V.

By RAW, you're immune to gaining any further insanity points. I had three players 'accidentally' start with it in my last campaign (Let that be a lesson, always watch your players' rolls during chargen.) so I nerfed it slightly. Any time they would have had to take an insanity test (Which never really cropped up, what with Jaded and such), they make the test regardless of From Beyond. Fail the test, gain 1 insanity point. Call it the last spark of their humanity recoiling from what it sees surrounding it.
