[Multiplayer titles] I fight to win

Recommended Posts

Here is a new plot from the chapter Trial by combat :

"Name : I Fight to Win

Income : 3 - Initiative : 5 - Claim : 1

Text:
Power Struggle. If you have more than 1 opponent, after each player has selected a Title, you may select a second Title from the remaining Titles and use both Titles this round. "

If I'm reading the rules correctly, in a game of 3 players, if a player reveal this plot during T1, one player will not be able to choose any Title at the second turn.

From the Rule Book, "At the end of the round, all titles are returned to the Small Council Chamber on the game board". Except in 3-players games, this only happens when there are no Title left in the Small Council Chamber. So at T2, when the 2nd player pick up the last Title, the 4 Titles from T1 are not made available for the 3rd player - since that happens at the end of Taxation phase.

So, one player is screwed - good to know ^^

Also worth noting this situation cannot happen in 4-players games.

Obviously, this section was written long before FFG even considered there might be effects that would allow players to select extra titles and it should read: "At the end of the taxation phase, if there are fewer titles remaining in the Small Council Chamber than players in the game, return all titles to the Small Council Chamber."

Also note that the FAQ never explains how Mêlée games work (most notably, nothing in the flowcharts).

Since Myrcella read : exchange Titles and not "Exchange one of your Titles" - so I'd say each chosen player must exchange all his Titles

Not saying that this isn't the case, but i don't think the plurality of the word title in the text could be an argument one way or the other since it would be the same grammar for one title each (which was the only option at the time myrcella was printed) or several titles each.

Myrcella was printed in the same CP cycle, so I would suspect that her text was printed that way on purpose(meaning without identifying singular or plural specifically).  Isn't it possible that that context of "exchange" is meant for all titles in possession?

I agree both interpretation could be correct - it all depends on how one reads the card.
