Maester_LUke 0 Posted January 22, 2012 I was having difficulty parsing this one out. If "Ours for the Taking" comes up in the Marshalling Phase when I trigger Val, can I use on a card that's got "Phase X" ability? Like for example, Open Market? I was having some difficulty recalling the procedure for "Copying" with regard to Play restrictions. I understand that as the additional cost, I would have to discard 2 cards, but does the event let me circumvent the "Dominance:" phrasing? Ours for the Taking Type: Event House: GreyjoyHouse Greyjoy only. Any Phase: Choose 1 location that would kneel to trigger its effect. Copy that ability (paying any additional costs), without kneeling the location. Open Market Type: Location House: MartellCost: 1 Dorne.Dominance: If it is Summer, kneel Open Market and discard 2 cards from your hand to return any card from your discard pile to your hand. ktom 598 Posted January 22, 2012 Why are you adding the additional wrinkle of Val in the Marshaling phase? Couldn't you just play the "Any Phase" event from your hand after having drawn it normally in the Draw phase? Why would Val have any impact on the situation? Any way, when you are triggering Ours is the Fury, you are copying the entire effect of the location - including (non-kneeling) costs, play restrictions, effects, etc. It's an entirely unique copy in that regard (other copy effects only copy the effect). However, what is triggering/resolving is the event, not the location. As such, it is the "Any Phase" timing trigger of event, not whatever "natural" timing trigger of the location is, that would be involved. The short form of this answer is that the "Dominance" restriction on Open Market tells you when you can trigger Open Market. But you are not triggering Open Market; you are triggering Ours is the Fury. The "when you may trigger Open Market" restriction doesn't apply to the resolution of the event. If you're still having trouble parsing this one out, let me ask it of you this way: after you use Ours for the Taking to copy (and resolve) the effect on Open Market, could you use an "after you trigger a location ability" Response? No, because the location ability wasn't triggered; an event effect was. Does that sound right? If so, why would the "you can only trigger this location ability in X phase" play restriction have any meaning to Ours is the Fury?
