Operation Cerberus floor tiles too short?

That is correct, they only cover half a square.
Otherwise it would be hard (impossible) to place miniatures on levels below the floor tile.

He means the length of the tiles and not the half width... if you build the floor plan as in the instructions the floor pieces are not support on all three sides, you can do 2 at best if you slide the floor piece down to one end

That's a problem because they made the building to split the difference over the tile edges, but kept the floor sections with only the 90mm spacing.

They would have done better printing them with a partial space beyond the edges so they would slot into all of the walls properly, but it's an easy fix to cut a piece of card stock to go under them for the extra support.

Hopefully, FFG will correct the gaff when they need to reprint the floor sections, but they work with two sides supported, and even better with extra support placed under them.

No, they won't make alterations.  You are not going to tell me that nobody noticed during the design trials or even when taking their photo's (carefully not showing the fault) and thought about making corrections then.

They don't do their own printing, so they would have found out when the pieces came back. They would then have been faced with releasing with short floors, or delaying release.

I don't see the pictures as 'carefully not showing the fault.' I see the pictures as showing the building on a fairly standard angle for such displays.

They may not change them, as they do work, but they would be able to change them in the next print run if they wanted to.

I'm quite happy with my Cerberus building, and will probably wind up with at least one more because they do work well and look good.

The floor tiles are definitely a mess. I have not contacted FFG about them, but plan to soon. I did not know until now that others had the same issue. I was wondering if I just got a bad batch, but it seems as if the whole production was made too short.

Releasing a known faulty product, that bad.

But something that can be corrected.

Not releasing a product that wound up with a surprise problem that will still work means the company sits on a lot of expenses waiting for the printer to admit their fault and make it right while the fans stew waiting for Operation Cerberus.

It's not a great deal either way, but by releasing the building with floors that work, albeit less than perfectly, they were able to get Operation Cerberus out to a public that was clamoring for it.

Think about how much people complain about every delayed release.  FFG had to decide which was the greater problem; release with less than perfect materials, or delay and have some of the fans grousing, complaining, and threatening to leave the game.  FFG is bigger than most game companies, but that doesn't mean they are immune to bad press.  They simply had to decide which would generate more.

I think people would be pleased that there would be a slight delay in release to get their product right, providing they were told of the situation but unfortunately thats what pisses of people the most, FFG do not communicate with their customers, they could even have told us that the batch is faulty and leave it up to the consumer whether to buy or not - but they haven't.

While not ideal, the floor sections are useable as long as you don't stack too many heavy figures on them. I hope they do fix the situation as I am not interested in making something myself. I imagine 2012 will be a year of FFG working on their QC. I think the MoM Forbidden Alchemy was a real embarrassment. Kind of like my grammar.

Like WTF, I'm happy to have a workable product with a minor problem rather than waiting until the printing error is fixed befor anyone could get Operation Cerberus.

If the problem made the product unusable, I would expect it to be fixed before distribution, with at least fix it kits sent along with the product.  Because it is a minor annoyance that does not impact the playability of the product, I don't have a problem with what they've done.

Would I like to see them do something to fix the problem?  Yes.

Will this problem cause me to stop buying anything I want for DUST?  No.

Are there players who do not even see this as an actual error that needs to be fixed?  Quite probably.
