A couple more noob questions

Hi folks, hope you can help with these

1) Do duplicates on unique characters duplicate their challenge icons? The rule book says the dupes have no text, titles, or traits, but mentions nothing about challenge icons? So, if a duped character has a military, intrigue and power icon removed, say by The Prince's Wrath, will it still have the duped icons?

2) If a character who has the military icon is carrying a piece of equipment that also gives a military icon, and again has a military icon removed (again, say by The Prince's Wrath) does the second icon remain? Can you be considered to have more than one of the same icon?

3) Do you kneel influence to pay Ambush costs? Most influence cost cards specify kneeling, but Ambush only says you 'pay' influence? In the case of ambush, does influence generate a pool each turn?

The ink on a dupe means absolutely nothing. They do not grant any "powers" to the original card beyond the save ability. Think of dupes as "token lives." Nothing more, nothing less.

Whenever you check for something, you always add up all of the active modifiers and apply the result. So if you have the printed icon, plus an extra icon (like from Rusted Sword), minus a lost icon (like from Prince's Wrath), you get 1 + 1 - 1 = 1. 

With icons, though, you either have it or you don't. So technically, the calculation is 1 + 1 - 1 = "yes." It's not like having the printed icon and an effect granting the same icon (1 + 1 = 2 = "yes") gives you anything extra. You either have the icon or you don't. Getting the same icon more than once just makes it harder to take away. It doesn't make the character "super effective" in that challenge type.

Influence never generates a pool. Kneeling a 2-influence icon will never let you play two "1-influence" effects or put two "1-influence" Ambush cards into play. "Pay influence" and "kneel influence" are effectively the same thing in this game.
