Bearer of the Yellow Sign 0 Posted November 25, 2011 Hi, I have a quick question regarding Clover Club Torch Singer (Core Set, F66). If I execute her action "Pay 1 to choose a character. Until the end of the phase that character gets -2 skill." twice on, say, Freelance Agent (Core Set, F142). Does the Freelance Agent, then, get -1 skill (effectively 0) or -2 skill? The wording of the action seems to be not decisive on that point from my point of view. All the best, Bearer

The wording of the action seems to be not decisive on that point from my point of view. The Torch Singer's action reduces the targeted character's current skill by 2. Using it twice, on a Freelance Agent would reduce his skill to -1 (which is treated as being zero for the purpose of resolving effects). This is explained in the FAQ which uses the similarly worded Action of the Clover Club Bouncer as an example: (1.11) Multiple Lasting EffectsEven if not triggered at the same time, multiple lasting effects may affect thesame card at the same time. The orderin which the lasting effects take placeis irrelevant – the net sum result of alllasting effects is applied to the card. For example, a Young Deep One (CoreSet F52) (with 0 skill) is affected bytwo Clover Club Bouncers(Core Set F65),lowering that character’s skill by 2. TheYoung Deep One’s controller then attachesNotebook Sketches (Mountains of MadnessF4) to it, increasing the Young Deep One’sskill by 1. The net sum of these threelasting effects is that the Young Deep Onehas a skill of -1. Note, however, that a character’s skill isnever considered to be below zero forpurposes of resolving effects. Thus inthe example above, the Young Deep One’sskill would count as though it were zero. However, if another lasting effect wouldgive the Deep One +1 skill, the net skillwould remain at zero.
