Alexander West 0 Posted October 4, 2011 Renly (The Raven's Song) says: "After you win a power challenge and there is at least one Power Struggle plot card revealed, draw a card." What does it mean while it is revealed? I thought plot cards are only revealed in the moment they are played during the Plot phase, and that then they become part of the used pile. My best guess it that it only works while they are on top of the used pile?
eloooooooi 0 Posted October 4, 2011 Exactly. Your revealed plot card is the last plot card you revealed, meaning it is on top of your used plot pile (in practical terms). In other words, your revealed plot card is the one you look at in order to apply income, initiative and claim values.

My best guess it that it only works while they are on top of the used pile? There are three plot states, not two: Revealed (=active), in the plot deck, and in the used pile. A plot is revealed as a framework event in the plot phase and remains revealed (=active) until a new plot is revealed. If it went to the used pile after the plot phase, how would continuous effects like Threat from the North or Power of Blood affect the game outside the plot phase? The stuff about the three plot states is in the FAQ somewhere, can't look it up right now, because the wife is craving my attention. Uh oh, gotta go. ktom 598 Posted October 4, 2011 What it essentially comes down to is that "revealing" a plot is the action during the plot phase (or through card effects), but the "revealed" plot (or the plot that "is revealed") is your active plot. It is not a good idea to think of it as "the plot on top of your used pile." That may be how most people do it in practical terms, but that plot is not actually considered to be part of your used plot pile. It is your currently revealed, active plot. You use it for reference to gold, initiative, and claim. The text on it is considered active and affecting the game (think "Power of Blood;" Noble characters cannot be killed while it is your current, active plot - not just when it is revealed in the plot phase.) Used plots do not affect the game (short of specific reference to plots in your used pile), so that "plot on top of your used pile" cannot actually be part of your used pile if you expect to use its stats and text outside of the plot phase. When you think of that active plot as your "currently revealed" plot, text like Renly's makes a lot more sense.
Alexander West 0 Posted October 4, 2011 So, can you play "To be a wolf" on the first turn if your first revealed plot is a Military Struggle? I thought so, but KTOM makes me think otherwise?

Your used plot pile is empty until at least Round 2 (short of using Bran, a Rookery, or something like that to reveal and extra plot in Round 1). If you have nothing in your used plot pile, you cannot have a Military Battle card in it to meet the play restriction on To Be a Wolf.
