traderghost 0 Posted July 22, 2011 Has anyone painted their Axis Gorillas yet? I know Dcal12 has. If you have, kindly please post your pics here. I love to see those fully painted gorillas because I myself can't paint for peanuts So far, I've seen you all paint human figures (and what a wonderful job!) and I love to see how you guys paint an animal. Thanks, guys!

Thanks, guys! Dude, I painted mine yesterday. I will post after I put a coat of antishine on them. But all I do, is spray paint them black primer, dry brush some gray over the hair to bring out detail, paint the eyes and tongue..then the teeth, I cover them in QuickShade and then a coat of anti-shine. I think I will get another set of Gorillas because on the card I noticed some bloody scratches on the chest of the Gorillas. And I think that would be cool. Oh yeah I also popped the hands off them painted them gray with a dry brush of gun metal. By far the easiest miniature to paint, but I understand unlike the other great painters on here, I paint quickly so I can play more.

This is exactly how I plan painting mine, I think they will be the next squad to get done...well once I get the Axis machine gun squad done.
Peacekeeper_b 5 Posted July 23, 2011 Ive only painted Markus, but I might try the dry brush grey on the backs. I gave marcus dwarf flesh for his skin areas to give him a more "human/monstrosity" look to him. But the rest I will do in normal "ape" tones. And if I knew how to load a photo, I would! player359820 0 Posted July 31, 2011 Your apes look great. What do you use to get in and do the close details?
Fast Co. 0 Posted August 1, 2011 I've been painting for years, and am relatively good at it, so if you mean the eyes and such, I just use a steady hand and fine brush. I have a 'base coat and floorwax wash everything" sort of approach to Dust mini's, so anything you see is probably a cheap and easy technique. these were black with a drybrush of dark grey, then the gauntlets were painted silver and gold. I washed the gloves with diluted black and picked out the teeth and eyes and that was that.

arkangl2 6 Posted August 3, 2011 I have a tutorial on how to paint the fur without using black and just using codex grey and black wash on my blog. I picked it up from a friend of mine who plays a Warhammer Mortal Chaos Army when I was painting my Space Wolves Army
