New: Dust Models Allies Landing Craft LCM46

Recommended Posts

 Hi everyone,

I was just on the Dust Models website (on the Coming Soon page). It seems they are going to release the amazing landing crafts displayed on the cover of some of their books.

$60. It doesn't say wen they will be available yet.

Enjoy.

Well I guess I don't need to make my own anymore.

But it doesn't look as wide as the Op. Cyclone terrain tile versions, and with the machine gun emplacments it look like it looses two "squares" of space as well.

on the Facebook group, Olivier made a note about me wanting to use it for Cyclone missions and he mentioned its smaller in width than the tile.  wont stop me from adapting it for the missions though..

 Landing craft sure looks good.

But for me it is kinda pointless. There are at least 2 1/48 kits on market for ww2 landing crafts , i would prefer something more tied to alternative universe, German jet fighters for example?

Agreed, I mean, how often will you use them and to buy 3 at that price?

I will more than likely end up with three. For the most part even though I like the board game rules I am just waiting on the table top rules and a DDay'ish table will look cool with the boats. Though it looks like it would be fairly easy to scratchbuild I find myself with more money than time lately so it all balances out.

Difference on the other company's landing craft is they are 50 foots, the DUST ones are 75 foot if I remember correctly. So the DUST ones should be much bigger. Just a note for people.

Maybe, maybe not.  The Hobby Boss kit is 12.5" x 4".  The Dust website doesn't give dimensions of the kit, but if it follows the tile dimensions, it will be 11" long by 7.5" wide.  So the LCM 46 will probably be shorter and wider.  However, based on the website picture with the Mickey ARV, to me it doesn't look like you'll be able to fit two walkers abreast like the map tile.

I think the best advantage of the DM kit is that it's a waterline model rather than  a full kit like the Hobby Boss.  I think a waterline kit will look much better on the table.

Either way, you're going to have to be a pretty hard core Dust or WWWII gamer to want to build either kit.

I think the Hobby Boss kit could be converted to a "waterline" model, you just need to be good with a hobby saw.

What does waterline model mean? Is that the bottom is cut off so it looks like part of it is underwater?
