Jubei26 0 Posted June 12, 2011 So my Arch Militant has decided that he want's to take the hunting rifle offered in the starting gear...only one problem... I can't find the weapon in the Armory! If some one could give me the page I can find it or what the stats are on it, as I'm probably just blinder then an astropath. Thanks!
Vandegraffe 27 Posted June 12, 2011 Actually, you're not blind; FFG goofed up and left the stats out. The official RT errata says the Arch-Militant's "Best-quality Hunting Rifle" should be "Best-quality Long-Las". Or, if you want an actual slug thrower, the Inquisitor's Handbook from Dark Heresy has several fine hunting rifles that may be available at whim of the GM... Cheers, - V. Voronesh 3 Posted June 12, 2011 You can also use a Best quality Sniper rifle from Into the Storm instead.

I doubt his gm will let him replace the starting longlas with a sniper rifle. Compared to the Hunting Rifle (stats for one can be found in Dark Heresy core rulebook or The Inquisitors Handbook), the sniper rifle is rarer and equal or better in all stats. You might switch to the sniper rifle, or even the Nomad (Inquisitors Handbook) later. Or you might decide that the larger clip size on the longlas is worth the reduced range and damage. Or, this being Rogue Trader, you might decide to buy all three.

The longlas works best with hotshot charge packs - it removes the advantage of number of shots, but beefs up the average damage and Pen to more respectable values. Even better (or worse for some people) a longlas starts with a half-action reload. Adding the customised trait* gets its reload down to a half action. Rapid reload then takes that down to a free action**. So just carry as many hotshots as you can, along with an overcharge pack or two for when the hotshots run out. *Doing this needs a house rule. **The only 'sniper' weapon (any basic weapon with the accurate quality) that doesn't have a full action reload is the Angelus. Svarte Hanske 0 Posted June 14, 2011 One shot, one kill. Why the need for lots of ammo? But to answer the question; I first bought the Dark Heresy screen, where there are some different weapons listed up, like the hunting rifle. Then I found the errata! I let the arch-militant change weapon if she wanted, and before she had decided, Into the Storm came... so now she got a Sniper Rifle. Not that she ever use the rifle, she's more like a store-house of different weapons: 2 boltpistols on her hips, hellpistol legstrapped, flamer and sniper rifle on her back, mono-groxwhip in her belt and legstrapped knives. I think she use the whip more often than the rifle!

numb3rc 247 Posted June 23, 2011 Lynata, that's hilarious. The "skin tight" power armor that can be hidden under a cloak alone is enough to make me snicker.
