Unn Toughness of home made daemons

Recommended Posts

OK I know that Mark of the Xenos is about to be delivered, but before that, I want to present to you my question:

-I'm trying to made some home made daemons and the only earlier profiles are the ones from DH core book and the Herald of Khorne of Ascension but their Toughness is to low to even stand Space Marines.

We can say that their "reduced" T in less epic games is due their conexion with the warp, which is not complete. You know: they have been summoned, their bodies are not as stronger as if they have come trough a daemonic portal.

So I though to give them Unn Toughness (X2) to all daemons, apart from the Daemonic Trait. So with normal weapons, their multiplier will be (x3) and the T bonus of a bloodletter should be at least 4, so 12 damage soak. No armour, of course. But then, Nurgle Daemons would have to have another multiplier so T 50 (x4)-->20 damage soak

Well, I think this will made daemons a fair enemy for an astartes. Or at least, as dangerous as a Final Sanction Genestealer. But I'm afraid of having gone too far with the multiplier.

This daemons will attack them in a 1,5:1 or 2:1, even 2,5:1 proportion in an epic scene.

I know they are houserules but, are they overpowered?

Greetings in advance

It sounds about right to me, daemons are supposed to be able to give the marines a good, honest fight. As for the Plaguebearers, 20 damage soak sounds sounds about right, even on the TT they carry a 5T to the Bloodletters 4T (same as a marines btw). So a 8 point boost sounds about right. I like what you did with them, I say try em' out!

No, they are rather underpowered. Heralds of Khorne rank just under Bloodthirsters, right? DH toned them down to make them viable opponents for DH characters, I think. At a minimum they need Swift and Lightning Attack. I would give them rather 50 or even 60 Wound Points. These Heralds are more deadly than Tyranid Warriors, more on the level of a Tyranid Prime.

I would do a mix between the DH Herald and this Bloodthirster here actually (or my simplified version later in the thread):

www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp

3 Marines per Herald should suffice to dispatch him without taking fatalities, depending on circumstances. 2 Marines should be able to prevail but probably not without one of them falling to the Herald. 1 Marine should be good as dead at rank 1.

My rough estimation.

I used the warp beasts from the Purge the Unclean adventure "Shades of Twilight" in hordes. They never got close enough to use their massive damage, armour-ignoring attacks but would have hurt if they had closed the distance. Hordes are a viable option for the weaker daemons IMHO, stuff like bloodletters and plague bearers maybe not.

I would give them defensive talents (Step Aside/Wall Of Steel) and a shedload of wounds.

It just seems more otherworldly to have something that can take that much and keep going, plus it makes less dangerous allies a little more useful (assuming fear doesn't take them), and it's easier to change ease of defeat.
