# PLATEAU AD INFINITUM

## Recommended Posts

The purpose of these rules is to facilitate the understanding of the hills rules, using a logical rationale about the hills and plateaus.

When a unit is on a hill and adjacent to this unit there is hill with the same level, it is a plateau and the unit don´t have Line of Sight in that direction, no matter the distance of the target.

If there is a hill with the same level some hex away, this hill also creates a plateau, blocking the terrains that are behind it and the unit don´t have Line of Sight in that direction.

LEVEL 1 HILLS

When a unit is on a Level 1 Hill and between it and the target there is a Forest, Building, Bunker, etc, this obstruction causes a 'shadow' of two hex, which blocks the Line of Sight of units in this terrain.

A can not see B or C.

LEVEL 2 HILLS

When a unit is on a Level 2 Hill and between it and the target there is a Forest, Building, Bunker, Level 1 Hill, etc, this obstruction causes a 'shadow' of one hex, which blocks the Line of Sight of units in this terrain.

And to complete:

HILLS COVER: 1

Units on hills get +1 Cover when they are attacked by units that are in lower terrains.

The rules above seem much simpler and more coherent than the official rules and I only play with them.

Nice & clear!

I will use them.

Edit: I would specify: No higher positon cover from mortar or artillery fire, though.

Thanks!

Really, well remembered. But I can not edit my topic (why not?). So, here is correct:

HILLS COVER: 1

Units on Hills get +1 cover when they are attacked by units that are in lower terrains. But, higher positions do not cover from Mortar or Artillery attack.

Outstanding! Nicely done.

Simply but effecticely resumed LOS rules.

However as to the question of LOS (resp. visible units) beyond hills, when you are on a hill and then several hexes distant from there is a plateau (of the same level as the hill or vice versa). My problem is illustrated in your examples no 2 and no 4.

We thought, that this case is only another variant of the plateau rule. Logically it should be so.

However when I asked (last year) this question to FFG TOI questions depart., R. Kouba answered me that in this situation can not be used plateau rule and is used normal rules regarding LOS from hills and blind hexes. So we play it this way.

So we can choose, an official explanation or a logical explanation .

Yes.

A level 1 hill should block line of sight to a level one hill. And a level one hill should give a level two hill two blind hexes. Whats the official version of the later?
