BFK Errata Collection

Recommended Posts

I'd like to start a collection of BFK errata.

I asked Ross whether Table 1-11 or Table 1-12 has the correct values for the Jovian-pattern Macrocannon and the Plasma Accelerated Torpedo Tubes.  I also asked whether the Bombardment Cannon should cost 2 SP or 3 SP. This is his answer:

Hi [HappyDaze],

Table 1-12 is correct for both the plasma accelerated torpedo tubes and the Nova Cannon.

The Bombardment Cannons are SP 3.

Hope this helps!

My next question regards the Mezoa-pattern Theta-7 Drive.  Hopefully we'll know its Power, Space, and SP values soon.

And here it is, in less than 15 minutes!

Hello,

The Mezoa-pattern Theta 7 has the following profile:

Hull Type: Transport
Power: 44 Generated
Space: 18
SP +1

The correct value for Attack and Armour in sample ground unit (The 3rd Vaxanide Grenadiers) should be 4d10+7 and 14. It looks like the bonus for Tech Level was omitted.

I'd prefer if we could get reposts of answers from FFG's people.  It's not as official as Errata, but it's a bit better than just posting a correction without any supporting documentation (which, while it could be faked, can also be confirmed by FFG should it be needed).

I couldn't post up my "supporting documentation" because I was posting on my phone, but that's what Sam has said, and I posted his statement in the other BFK thread. Plus, in Gyg's case, that error correction is correct.

In many cases, we don't need FFG e-mails to show an error and obvious correction, unless you want to argue that the Tech Level modifier has been included in the example Gyg stated gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'm not condemning the previous posts, just suggesting what I'd like this thread to contain and why.

Oddly enough, I can't post to these forums from my phone (Samsung Epic/Android), nor could I from my previous phone (Iphone 3GS).  When I try to tap on the text box to type the whole thing highlights and I never get a cursor.

I have the same issue with my iphone 3G.

Actually I emailed FFG the question I posted here. Here's the question and answer:

Hi Grzegorz,

You're correct, it should be in the example. Thanks for pointing that out!

> Rule Question:
> Dear Sir/Madam,
> I have a question regarding Battlefleet Koronus sourcebook. It regards an example of a ground unit from page 124. As I understand Power of a ground unit is modified by Tech Level. Also, damage dealt by said unit and its armour are based on Power characteristic. Why in the example mentioned above Tech Level modificer is not included in both damage and armour value?
> Shouldn't it be Attack 4D10+7 and Armour 14?
> Best regards,

Same issue with ipad2, iphone 4 and 3gs, even with opera mini it doesn't work.

Not "Opera Mini", "Opera Mobile", they're two different pieces of software, with the "Mobile" version being a much more powerful browser.

I should know, I just posted this post from it gui%C3%B1o.gif

Some collected queries:

>Warp Antenna is described as an External Component that doesn't use any space. Table 1-11 says it uses 1 space.

>Vortex torps ignore armour. Was the Jovian Pattern Nova Cannon supposed to ignore armour as well?

>I see several references to a Stygies pattern Nova cannon on p25 and on p37. But no stats are provided for it.

Not really Errata, but two pieces of information that might be of interest to some. I didn't see a more fitting thread to post them (I left out answer #1 as not pertinent to the thread).

Rules Question,

Hello XXX,

Here are the answers to your question.

[...]

2. Ship's fuel for the plasma and warp drives is specifically left up
to the GM, and generally runs out as the plot requires. If a GM
wishes, he can have fuel be a non-issue. Otherwise, he can have ships
need to refuel at the six month mark when they start to run out of
supplies, or every four months, or every four years—whatever makes his
plot more interesting. Likewise, the plasma scoop can be used to
extend the ship's range narratively, the players know their ship has
it, and thus they can travel far beyond the rim of known space into
the depths of the Expanse. When it's interesting and thematic, the GM
can require them to use their plasma scoop, and make it a tense,
exciting experience.

3. Simply put, NPC Goliath-class vessels have an easier time with
using their scoops than those crewed by a Rogue Trader and his allies.
Those Goliath's that operate within the Calixis Sector have highly
trained crews that know exactly what they're doing. They are also
equipped with large banks of Maneuvering Jets to increase their
maneuverability. Even then, some ships are destroyed every so often,
but not nearly as often as five years.
In other words, the rules provided here are for vessels crewed by
player characters, in order to make the experience challenging and not
without risk. Not for the plodding Goliaths that slowly ply their
trade back in the Calixis Sector, far away from the actions of the
players.

Hope this helps!

Sam

EXORCIST Class Grand Cruiser is sait to come with:  2 Jovian Pattern Launch Bays.

Are these 'Landing bays' or 'Escort Bays' as the space and cost of either is different though the power is the same.

A few things I noticed:

Page 14: Assault boats get a +5 bonus for every squadron of friendly bombers after the first. Pretty sure this is a copy-paste error, and it should be friendly assault boats instead.

Page 39: Cloudmining Facility. The description talks about fresh water, air and ice. And then suddenly it starts talking about "refined plasma". Hm...

Page 39: Manufactorum. According to the table on page 41 you can only have one, yet "each manufactorum" adds a +10 bonus to certain tests. I think you're supposed to be able to get more than one.

Page 40: Plasma Scoop. +5 Achievement Points? Really? Probably supposed to be +50.

MARS Class Battlecruiser - two integral launch bays but which jovian bay?  Escort or just a Landing bay?

Were there playtesters?

The cruisers and grand cruisers can accept either and the wrong/incorrect names are listed for each entry in their hull descriptions so that doesn't really answer the question.

Just to point out, changes are made to the book after the playtesters have finished with it, which we don't get to see until the final book is released. Please don't automatically blame us playtesters for any/all errors in the book at release.

I've noticed the Eldar Star Cannons have worse stats in BFK than they do in edge of the Abyss (p62).

They have range 4 in BFK and range 6 in Edge of the Abyss.

In edge of the abyss they do not have the "superior accuracy" special quality like in BFK, but in the "special rules" section for the ship they are on (Memories of Lament) they have a bonus equal to "superior accuracy" (called starcannon accuracy) So it seems like the only difference is the range.

Range 4 seems rather low for a race thats supposed to be more technologically developed than most other races but I suppose it could be for balance

On the nightshade and hellbore frigates it's strength is listed as 3 while it's listed as 4 on everything else (even the shadowhunter which is a raider)

However, given that the Eldar can fire at any point during their Movement Action, rather than just at the beginning or end of it (like everyone else), the shorter range isn't a problem, as they can swing close, fire, and then fly off again.

In BFG, the Eldar are the bane of slow moving Imperial ships as they can frequently manoeuvre right behind your rear and unload their triple **** lances at point blank range. This may seem stupidly dangerous tactics to sensible folk like you and me but the Eldar are finest voidfarers in the Galaxy and they will do everything to remind you of it.
