Creature's actions and Weapons.

Recommended Posts

When I use Beastmen in my campaign are they supposed to hold weapons such as axes?If yes why they have a 4 damage rating next to their Strength instead of the 5 DR of the standard Hand weapon?

Also, when using the Fearsome Charge Beastman action card it needs to have a melee weapon equipped.Do they have one by default?

I am a little confused.

Thanks in advance for your support!

If you read the rules bits for monsters carefully, you see that normally they are using weapons in a "fluff" sense but not for the math of weapon damage etc. (e.g., they don't get weapon crits for boons).  So if the fluff says they are using weapons they are using them (e.g., some goblins have bows etc.).  So the beastmen have weapons for their actions.

Giving monsters weapon "stats" and crits at times can also be a way to vary them and strengthen them a bit when you want to.

Also while monsters can be fluff assumed to use clubs etc - most of the time those stats are what they do in a general sense.  'Generic human peasant has a 3 damage because he's probably swinging a back-hoe or a fist'.

The beastmen do 4 because of horns, teeth, claws, and random branches.  If they managed to scavange functional weapons you would want to change that (an example being Izka in TGS who has actual 2H weapon stats).
