Runic Weapons for my Rune Priest

Recommended Posts

Has anyone come up with a balanced set of rules for the runic weapons wielded by tabletop Space Wolves?  They function as both force weapons and psychic hoods in tabletop, but then, a starting PC isn't getting the full standard tabletop librarian gear either (as you have to request a psychic hood, rather than receive one as part of starting gear).

For those with Rune Priest characters, or Rune Priests in your game, have you come up with anything beyond "Force Weapon stats + counts as a Psychic Hood"?  If you tried the easy way, was it balanced?

Perhaps, since this topic isn't generating much interest, a side topic:

I was trying to figure out a good, unique runic weapon (since they can be pretty much anything, as I understand), and I though it would be particularly cool if I converted some Wolf Claws (basically, the Lightning Claw stats) into a Force Weapon.  I was considering the following profile:

1d10 +2, Pen 2, Tearing, Force Weapon, Distinguished Renown, 40 Req. It would have the same manipulation rules as a Lightning Claw.

I figured that the increased Pen of the Lightning Claws (in comparison to a Power Sword) was more a function of the more powerful Power Field in the gauntlet, which the force blades on the claws would not be affected by, but that the Tearing was an aspect of the multiple blades on the gauntlet.  The extra damage from Degrees of Success seemed like a bit too much, given the potency of Force Weapons already.

Its main competition would be an Exceptional Force Sword, which does (on average) .7 damage less, but would have +5 to Weapon Skill on attacks, accounting for the Tearing.

Thoughts?

It's a lot of interest to me but not immediately. I plan to give to my Rune Priest various buffs as he is adding various runes to his stuff. Psychic hood effect comes if he decides to put on a rune of warding which has to be bought via signature wargear talent as if it was a psychic hood, I think. I'm going to improvise all of that stuff.

Main point is I want more runes all with various minor effects to choose from as he progresses and a few major effects available after certain points.
