thin blue line (painted us troops)

 I did some painting on my dust set, loosely inspired by riot cops and the police symbol "the thin blue line", the blue line on the minitures is trying to mimic the look of reflective tape.

I'm contemplating adding highlights to the armor but not sure at the moment, these were the models in the base set i was least excited to paint, i like em more now that they are painted. The sculpting on the coats is brilliant, the weapons and hands were a little bit weak but otherwise great miniatures with a style that rides the line between historical and gaming miniatures quite well.

pre-assembly and primer were interesting trade offs, on one hand the time saved from assembly was very nice, on the other hard it is hard to paint the chest of many of the models with the arms in the way. the articulation in each miniature's waist did make it easy to paint the legs. overall i would say an average hobbyist will love preassembly and primer, if your really into painting every nook and cranny you will be bothered by it.

the articulation is actually kind of fun, most figures have around two good poses.

Excellent, I like what you did with the blue thin line.  Think I will do that to signify the diffrent squads.  I do like that the upper body can be seperated from the lower body and the head can be removed, makes for easier painting, but yes the arms and weapons can be in the way.

But, looking good dude.

These look excellent; I want to mimic the green on my U.S. now.  Question: did you re-primer black before painting?

my process is as such

base coat (I used the primer color on minis already

airbrush the highlight color angled from top down, (this color was a "medial scrub green") the angle of the airbrush natraly casts the paint like a light source would)

shade using black paint mixed with Golden brand polymer matte varnish. this varnnish mixed with paint creates a glaze that will help paint pool into the recesses of the model, but do so gradually leaving you with great looking blends. 

the combination of airbrushed highlight followed up by this glaze is quite stunning and takes very little skill to pull off.

these models are actually very simple paint jobs as i used the same black glaze on all my base colors.

Thanks for the complements everyone! not sure how the Germans are going to look but my general thought is to have them take from street art culture and anarchy (this is why i painted the us to look like cops, street art's greatest enemy)
