thor2006 1 Posted January 26, 2011 If my arch-militant wish to use a storm bolter(that is basic weapon type) , digi-melta( that is of exotic weapon type), graviton gun( that is of exotic weapon type) lascannon ( that is of heavy weapon type) and an power sword what type of weapon training does the character must take? He already has (weapon mastery heavy and melee training universal). Can you please explain in detail what are the talents needed to use the different types of weapons? Thank you verry much. HappyDaze 10,108 Posted January 26, 2011 Each Exotic Weapon needs its own Talent. However, some GMs might be liberal and allow related weapons to use one Exotic Weapon Training (EWT) Talent. For example, all Digital Weapons might be covered under a single EWT, as might all (Tau) Pulse Weapons. Otherwise you need the proper class (Melee, Basic, Heavy, Thrown, Pistol) and type (Bolt, Las, SP, etc.). Note that Basic, Pistol, Melee, and Thrown all have a Universal type that covers a broad range of the types. For example, if you have Pistol Weapon Training (Universal) you can use any non-Exotic, non-Primitive Pistol weapon.
thor2006 1 Posted January 26, 2011 And to use the lascannon it is necessary only the Weapon Mastery(Heavy)? If I get the Pistol Trainning(Universal) can I use the storm bolter? Another question for lascannons what is the equivalent of the ammo backpack, the energy charge pack ? For example for lascannons I can fire for 4 times and then I reload. How times I can reload the lascannon with the equivalent of the storm bolter ammo backpack?
Errant 185 Posted January 26, 2011 Yes, because it has the Heavy Class. No, because it has the Basic Class. There isn't one, the lascannon already uses a backpack ammo feed.

What weapon training should the arch-militant take so that he can use the storm bolter? Doesn't the errata disallows the lascannon to use the backpack ammo pack? Backpack Ammo Pack/Power Pack (page 135): Thedescription of the Backpack Ammo Pack/Power Pack shouldbe modifi ed to say that the pack can hold 80 rounds ofammunition for a Plasma weapon, Melta weapon, Hellgunor Hellpistol, or 300 shots for any other Las weapon. TheBackpack Ammo Pack/Power Pack does not have the capacityto power or carry ammo for Heavy Weapons, with the exceptionof Heavy Stubbers, Heavy Bolters, and Heavy Flamers. karoline2 0 Posted January 26, 2011 The storm bolter requires Basic Weapon Training (Bolt) or Basic Weapon Training (Universal) Digi-Melta requires Exotic Weapon Training (Digi-Melta) or if the GM is generous Exotic Weapon Training (Digi) Graviton Gun requires Exotic Weapon Training (Graviton Gun) Lascannon requires Heavy Weapon Training (Las) or Heavy Weapon Training (Universal) though I'm not sure if Heavy Weapon Training has a universal. As for the backpack power pack, the lascannon is already powered by something similar to it. It has its own special pack that is used to provide power. Recharging it would take far longer than the scope of a combat, so you'll need to bring extra backpacks for it. Despite what it says in the errata, I'd likely just use those same stats. As Errant said, the Pistol Weapon Training (Universal) does not help with using a storm bolter because a storm bolter is a basic weapon, not a pistol weapon. As for Weapon Mastery (Heavy), that does not allow you to use lascannons. It gives you a +10 bonus when using lascannons, but if you do not have the talent for it mentioned above, then you are still not proficent in it and will take the penalty for not being proficent. Can the Basic Weapon Training (Universal) in the talent list? Can the talent be taken from the start?
thor2006 1 Posted January 26, 2011 An Arch-millitant(on page 44) starts with Basic Weapon Training(Universal),Melee Weapon Training(Universal),Pistol Weapon Training(Universal),etc talents. This means he has thoose talents for free as part of the character type package?
