Magah Bird - Things in the Ground - The Seventy Steps

Recommended Posts

OK, quick question. I'm playing a Yog/Hastur deck with Magah Bird, Things in the Ground and The Seventy Steps featuring in it.

Say it is early in the game and I have The Seventy Steps in play and I play Things in the Ground. Revealing the top two cards of my deck I find a Magah Bird, which I put into play insane. Does this then mean once the Bird enters play I can seach my deck for another Magah Bird and put that into play (exhausted due to The Seventy Steps) and once that hits the table then pull the last Bird from my deck (also put into play exhausted)?

This is what we did, but thought I'd better check I was doing it right...

Yep, that's correct.

Please note, though, that as of FAQ 1.3 the Magah Bird card has been banned. Of course this doesn't mean that you cannot use it in casual play. Just sayin'.

Thanks for the clarification. So I take it that all cards coming into play insane have their text boxes blanked at that time - similar to the inability to use the text box on an insane character in play...

Also, I just read today in the latest FAQ that the Birds had been banned. Fortunately I just play casual at the moment - got the game at Christmas this year. But you never know, tornament/league play might beckon in the future...

However, if you are just playing "casual" you might want to consider NOT using cards that are banned because they tend to create an imbalance and/or NFE for the person you are up against.  In other words, fun and casual games should not include competative hawkish cards that are too strong for competative tournaments.  Birds+Steps on turn 1 kills the game right there unless your opponent is also playing broken tech.
