edderkoppen 0 Posted January 2, 2011 After tonights game, I was wondering if I can actually use a scout to gather a tile from one citys outskirt to another city (though the city gathered from would then lose those resources). I just found it rather good that I could build a cathedral in two cities, and then gather it from one to the other, thus freeing up the other city to build something else than culture). I can't find anything in the rules that prohibits this, but neither can I find an exact example of what happens (if the gathered city actually loses their ressources for instance). Doc, the Weasel 1,777 Posted January 3, 2011 Yes you can do this, but then the original city doesn't get the resources.
MegaBearsFan 0 Posted March 29, 2011 Sorry to res an old post. This question actually came up in a 2-player game I played last night. Specifically, I had a wonder in all 3 of my cities, and placed a Scout on both of my non-capital wonders and "gathered" the culture to my capital so that my capital could Devote to the Arts when I was in Monarchy. We weren't sure if this should be legal, but we couldn't find anything in the rule book or the official FAQ that specifically prohibits it. We both assumed that doing so would work similarly to Blockade/Gathering from an enemy city's outskirts (in that the city being "gathered" from loses the tile yield). The official FAQ has the question "Can scouts gather icons and/or resources from squares containing buildings or wonders?" To which the official answer is: "Yes. If you have a scout in the outskirts of an enemy city on top of a building or wonder, then you both deny your opponent the icons and/or resources in that square, and may also send them home to one of your cities." This would seem to imply that the designers did not intend for the player to be able to "gather" from their own city outskirts, since they specifically state that gathering from a building is done on "an enemy city" and do not mention that it can be done in your own. Furthermore, being able to "gather" from another of your own city outskirts seems to be a bit exploitive because it completely defeats the purpose of having wonders and starred buildings limited to just one per city. So even though it is not specifically prohibited, I'm kind of leaning towards the belief that "gathering" from your own cities is not something that the designers intended the player to do, since they went to the trouble of making wonders and starred buildings be limited to one per city, and in the FAQ, they specifically only say that enemy buildings can be gathered from. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
MegaBearsFan 0 Posted March 29, 2011 This question has also come up in a few other threads, but there still doesn't seem to be any consensus: javascript:void(0);/*1301429009809*/
