Archers ranged attack on enemy engaged in melee

Can an Archer unit perform a ranged attack on an enemy engaged in melee?

Why not?

Haven't found any rules that restrict you attacking engaged enemies with archers.

Archers are only forced to attack enemy they are engaged with.

There is no problem with the attack so long as the archers have a line of sight. However, it does NOT constitute a FLANK as this can only be carried out from a melee attack.
