FFG Event Center: Saturday 11/27 @6:30

Recommended Posts

Cross-posted to BGG here:

What: Playing some AGoT LCG.
Where: FFG Event Center
When: Saturday 11/27 @6:30 PM (until midnight, so coming later is fine)

Who:

We've had small and varied groups meeting on Thursdays and Saturdays for a few months now. A convergence is likely this Saturday, with everyone showing up at once. At least that's the goal, and we've already had several "yes" RSVP's.

Even if you've never played before, if you have any interest in this game please feel free to show up and learn. You don't need to own cards to try this. We have plenty of spare decks.

Those of you wishing to test your latest tournament deck will have plenty to do as well.

I'll try to make it down there. I only have 2 copies of the core set, 1 Princes of the Sun, and the first King's Landing pack, and I'm fairly new to the game, so I'll be looking to pick up tips from the veterans. Looking forward to it!

On 12/4 we had 10 players for a joust mini-tournament. I went 2-2 with Greyjoy + Wildlings and had a great time. This deck tends to either win big or lose even bigger, and that's exactly what happened last night. None of the four games were close, and when I lost it was in spectacular fashion. Having played this deck in two tournaments now I might have gotten the Wildlings out of my system. The thing is that they are still very popular around here, so any deck has to be ready for them.

A friend and I are just starting and are working on putting some decks together.  Are the Thursday and Saturday groups new player friendly for all our questions and learning curves?

Yes. New players are absolutely welcome.  Don't be shy, and just let it be known that you want to play some teaching games.

If you know in advance when you're heading down, please feel free to let people know here. We don't play every Thursday and Saturday, but we do play on most of them.

I'm fairly new and I'll testify that everyone there is very friendly and helpful - even while kicking your teeth in! gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'd be glad to play with new people - despite the friendliness of everyone, it is intimidating playing against highly-tuned decks (not to mention the skilled players behind them).

For the record, Bray has only been playing for a few months. But from everything I hear he plays like he's been doing it for years.

We had 10 players for the joust tournament tonight. I had a good time going 1-3.

There will probably not be another organized tournament until 1/8/2011 (three weeks from now). Nick is going to post the semi-official word once we know the details.
