tovra.pt 0 Posted September 8, 2010 I'm confused (a permanent state lately, it seems) by a card in AGoT: You've Killed the Wrong Dwarf. The card states "Any Phase: Choose and kneel a non-noble character. Then, that character claims 1 power." Does this mean that the character can't be knelt for me to put power into it? The word "then" seems important, but I'm not really sure, as it's not a cost... right? Thanks for the help!
ktom 598 Posted September 8, 2010 Interestingly enough, "You've Killed the Wrong Dwarf" is the example used in the FAQ to illustrate the importance of the word "then." "(4.9) The word "then"If a card has multiple effects, all effects on thecard are resolved, if possible, independently ofwhether any other effects of the card are successful, with the following important exception: If a card uses the word "then," then the precedingeffect must have been resolved successfullyfor the subsequent dependent effect to beresolved. Take for example the card You've Killed theWrong Dwarf (CORE L167): "Any phase: Choose and kneel a non-NOBLE character, Then, that character claims 1power." In this example, because of the use of theword "then," claiming power on the characteris dependent upon that character first kneeling. In other words, the card cannot be played onan already-kneeling character to claim powerfor that character." Somehow I missed it - got to read more carefully next time. Thanks anyway!
