Rene33 0 Posted August 22, 2010 Last game, someone was playing the Sorceress (IIRC). When he was landing on another player, he would steal a follower, beguile him, and THEN also attack him. Are there any rules/errata dealing with situations like these? I'm also thinking about the vampiress and rogue. Seems to me like you should have to pick your poison, not do all these actions on the poor player in the same turn.
Dam the Man 84 Posted August 22, 2010 When you choose to encounter another character, you get to pick one option. So Sorceress for example gets to pick between A) battle, B) psychic combat, C) beguile or D) take Follower.

What would be very helpful is a reference where this is stipulated, wether page number in rule book or a link to some errata or rules clarification, so that I can properly challenge the player in question. The_Warlock 171 Posted August 22, 2010 Rulebook page 9, section "Encounters", is very clear about this. Everything is as written except the emphasis that I added on the word "one": Encountering Another CharacterAn encounter with another character always takes one of twoforms. The character whose turn it is may either attack (see“Battles Between Two Characters” on page 11) or use one ofhis special abilities on the other character. If a character killsanother character during the encounter, he may take anyObjects, Followers, and gold from the killed character to addto his own. Any Objects, Followers, and gold not taken are lefton the space. Also checking the Talisman Encounter Sequence at the end of the Rulebook is helpful when you have doubts solving an encounter. Rene33 0 Posted August 23, 2010 Thank you very much Warlock, you've been quite helpful. I was discussing all the rules clarifications I've found on this here site (checked it out for the first time yesterday) with the other players. It's been educative to say the least. I especially liked the one about having to encounter the village or city no matter what. No more safe havens for those toads!

My italian edition Enchantress says that I may take the follower from a character I land on "whether I choose to attack or beguile him"; so I can do that IN ADDITION to attacking or beguiling. Is that an error of the Italian version?
Dam the Man 84 Posted August 24, 2010 Way, way too lazy to check (that box is too deep in the stack), but I think that was the wording on the BI Sorceress, R4th Sorceress doesn't have that bit anymore. www.boardgamegeek.com/image/530980/talisman-fourth-edition

Thanks.
