Old Dwarf 15 Posted August 5, 2010 Well we've all been expecting this one but I'm suprised that among the listed commanders Roose Bolton is missing, perhaps he's include but just not mentioned? The initial announcement doesn't give all that much info(just puts my wallet on Notice )so he could be in the box.I find it hard to understand if he's not? Roose was a major Stark Commander & was the commander in several battles so it seems odd to leave him out(unless FFG plans a Red Wedding Expansion-which I doubt).House Bolton by itself doesn't seem to enough to have it's own expansion maybe a Tully/Bolton expansion?there is still1 announced but unspecified Expansion. In any case WE WANT ROOSE
smilekinua 0 Posted August 5, 2010 We want Roose! And battles for Harenhall! Additionally it will be interesting is FFG going to include John Snow (Stark) to one of expansions)?

You would think ,the Watch & Wildlings had some big fights, plus it would give FFG a chance to bring in some Fantasy Elements. OD
PIAT 0 Posted August 5, 2010 My main concern about the announcement was the "maidens" troop type. The more they stray from the tone of the books the less likely I'm going to keep buying product. We already have the Stark "kennel master", a great departure from the realistic tone of the books and now we have "maidens". Many interesting troop types and characters exist in the books these "add-ons" are not needed or wanted. If you want such troop types put them in Battle Lore. Stay true to Martin's vision for Westros. TomT
Aegon_V 0 Posted August 5, 2010 i thought it would have Tully troops that since they are full on with the starks that they would not have their own army

Thoemi2 0 Posted August 7, 2010 Hello, Yes Roose would be great but You would have to deliver his troops in both red and grey according to the side he wants to fight for ;-) This would of course especially be true also for Black Walder Frey and his like Moreover I would like to see the skinned man on the flags and tokens ;-) But this is one central aspect of the books which would be hard to encorporate in a game: Turncloaks who spoil all rulers plans by following their own devise when it seems appropriate. Its the balance of powers within a house and the loyalty of commanders which are more decisive than the number of troops or allies. The Truth of this has been proven many times in history (Prominent Example 333 BC Alex vs. Darius III) GRRM is a master incoporating this principle into a vivid and breathtaking storyline which makes his books so extraordinary in my opinion ! Yes, I tend to present myself as a smartass sometimes in spite of a dramatic lack of deeper insight and knowledge ;-)
psiman 0 Posted August 7, 2010 Turncloak leaders could be incorporated by having a couple of different commander cards. Much like GreatJon Umber, he can be a kennelmaster or infantry. Bolton could be a certain type and colour on one commander card, and the other on a different commander card. Since the commander figures all come in the same colour, it would work out just great! Fighting against House Bolton on the plains below the Twins at the Red Wedding would give me great satisfaction with a Stark victory!

Ah The Red Wedding....We're using the A Storm of Swords Expansion as a background to base our BoW battles on(well if Lannister & Stark are the sides involved)we key it to Raid Orders so it doesn't effect the overall play of ASoS.I threw in a Red Wedding Rule that could happen under certain circumstances(Lannister getting certain Ally House Cards). As for old Roose I can't help but think he'll get here sooner or later otherwise it would be like Genesis without the Snake OD
GrumpyBatman 29 Posted August 10, 2010 I wonder if FFG has considered the idea of using a non house color for mercenary types that could jump sides? That would take of Roose and the Goat since they switched sides enough. Even the Freys would need that color. Maybe a shade of blue or some other color that would not be mistaken for any particular house. There could be a mercenary/traitor box in the future? Just thinking.
