Einbauschrank 2 Posted June 25, 2010 Hi! Is it on purpose that the Astropath career has only two "cheap" attributes (willpower, intelligence) that start at 100xp improvement cost whereas all other careers have three 100xp advancements? Since I didn’t read anything in the errata I fear that it’s not an oversight … Thanks Einbau

Us getting Will Power and Intelligence for as cheep as it is, is great because with the Errata the psychic powers now use WP tests instead of Ballistics or something else. Intelligence is used in a GREAT majority of skills that the astropath can get his greedy little hands on. I'd like to see Per get knocked down to cheep from mid range but, it's O.K. where it's at. ~Puggy

This has always gotten under my skin, as I always felt it was rather a trademark point of astropaths. But I agree that, in the long run, they don't suffer much from their advance scheme. Einbauschrank 2 Posted June 25, 2010 It seems somewhat inconsistent to me. The Imperial Psyker from DH gets the cheap PER, so does the Navigator from RT (who really needs it, if the ship is not to be lost in the warp). It's not that the Atropath is underpowered, it simply seems not to fit into the general advance template.

Bilateralrope 144 Posted June 25, 2010 It does seem odd to me. Looking at all the careers from both game, 8 of them (4 from each game) get 3 cheap, 3 medium cost and 3 expensive characteristics to advance so I'll use it as the baseline since it is the most common. Most of the rest get 3 cheap, 4 medium, 2 expensive. Then we get the advance schemes of clerics and sorotias. There are only two careers with a characteristic advance scheme that is worse than the baseline: - Tech-Priests, who don't get to advance fellowship. - Astropaths. The only class that doesn't get 3 cheap characteristics to advance, also the only class that has BS and WS as expensive characteristics to advance. Are the divination powers powerful enough that they justify making perception a medium cost characteristic instead of a cheap one like it is on sanctioned psykers and navigators ? E.X.A.-Puggy 0 Posted June 26, 2010 The Divination powers look to be quite powerful to find out information about the past or the future, however i don't know first hand as i went with biomancey out of DH and telekenissis after telecomunications. Einbauschrank 2 Posted June 26, 2010 OK, the official answer just came in: It's as it should be. Two cheap improvements.
Xalendar 18 Posted June 27, 2010 The new stability of psychic power (compared to psychic power in DH) makes the astropath a very powerful carrier. I think that the stat progression tweak is here to balance the carrier.
