Backwards Tailslide

Recommended Posts

Guys I need your help.

I'd like to do a video about this but other than 'boost over an obstacle for a better disengagement' I'm having trouble working out any other scenarios this could be useful.

If annyone can jump in and help it would be appreciated!

This might be a great card for Temmin Wexley.

And the T70s in general may find it useful.

Doing a focus into a linked barrel-roll onto a gascloud (that would normally block the barrelroll) to arcdodge an enemy seems like fun.

(something I posted in another thread but worth putting here)

This also seem deserving of some attention, although how useful it really is is up for debate. Barrel rolls and Boost do not count as maneuvers they only count as moves. So the rules for passing through obstacles while not executing a maneuver apply.

While a ship is not executing a maneuver, if it moves through or overlaps an obstacle, it suffers an effect based on the type of obstacle (after resolving its move, if applicable):

• Asteroid: The ship rolls one attack die. On a hit result, the ship suffers one hit damage; on a crit result, it suffers one crit damage.

• Debris Cloud: The ship gains one stress token. The ship rolls one attack die. On a Crit result, the ship suffers one crit damage.

• Gas Cloud: The ship rolls one attack die. On a hit or focus result, the ship gains one strain token. While a ship is at range 0 of an obstacle it may suffer different effects.

Neither asteroids or Gas Clouds make you skip your perform action step in these cases.

Useful for Snap Wexley who can use his ability too boost passed an obstacle and grab an evade while still getting his perform action step.

Not sure who else can take advantage of that particular rule.

Any T-70 with PA can now 4k or Talon roll onto an obstacle and BR or Boost off of it, still taking the effects, but you aren't stuck on it. You can even focus - link Red BR, if you want to get the double stress but token up.

Nien PA, with Overdrive Thrusters might be pretty good here, with debris you can pretty much ignore the stress if you can get Nien positioning correct.

Additionally with New Temmin Wexley you can flip those foils after and still get 3 red dice and an extra Calculate.

On T-65's I'm not sure, with wings closed your have to risk the obstacle and always loose the Red dice for attack.  Focus- Red boost over and obstacle might get you out of range, so might be worth taking.

Depend on the points, this is a 0-1 card in my opinion. Lot of risk, lot of debuffs for a minimal upside.

(edit) oh for Resistance you have R5-X3 also that will allow you to ignore obstacles, so could work well in conjunction with this.

Sadly: Nantex can

I'm actually wondering if their will be an upcoming rule change that actually make this card more beneficial but hurt the Nantex... one can dream.

There is one at least who can use this aggressively. Below quote.

You  might also want to take a look at Kullbee Sperado

Jek also can, needs to have the lock already or someone to pass him one, with torps. Though it is very risky (thematically risky depending on how one perceives his flying skill).

Hmm. I'm not sure if there is much offensive T-65 potential. The T-70s at least can focus -> BR to set up a bullseye shot w/3 dice and a focus. Tailside will simply let them snag an extra evade if they go over an obstacle. T-70 access to overdrive also makes them more likely to be able to get the evade.

I agree w/ @Hiemfire that T-65s w/munitions could do well if supported by a Dutch or something similar. Basically, get a lock from elsewhere, and this opens up focus -> boosting over obstacles to set up surprise torpedo attacks (with the added benefit of an evade potentially). That being said, it does seem a little situational (but could be worth it if cheap enough).

____

Overall, I think it's best use is actually defensively on a fleeing T-65. As has been mentioned focus -> boost over obstacle gives you both a focus and evade (and probably a further ranged attack). Also, even if you cannot completely clear an obstacle, being able to grab a focus and then boost onto a rock/cloud/debris to create an obstructed shot is basically +1 agility vs potentially multiple attacks.

I actually think its decent in that regard.
